"Are you sure about this?" Jordan asks, once again, as I stand in the lobby, waiting for my Uber driver to show up. My mom stands beside her, clearly studying my every move.

"I'm sure, Jordan. Stop asking." I mumble, hoping not to offend her but also to make it clear that I'm done talking to her about this.

"I'll be back in a few days, you'll have some time to yourself until then, okay?" I nod, hugging my teammate when she opens her arms for me. She pats my back gently before leaving, she seems angry but I don't question it, and she leaves me with a very quiet Alex.

"Are you gonna tell me what's wrong?" She finally speaks, not tearing her eyes from me.

"There's nothing you need to be worried about, mom."

"Cody." She begins, in a stern tone that I've never experienced from her."What's going on?"

I pause, killing as much time as possible before I eventually open my mouth to answer her. However, I'm saved when my Uber shows up.

"I gotta go, mom. Kill it on the field, okay?" I hug my mom, melting into her hold, until I pull away. Alex helps me with my bags, and leaves a kiss on my forehead as I climb into the car. I don't look away from her as I'm driven off, a sudden sadness falls down on my chest.

Should I have told her?

Before my thoughts can completely plummet, my phone starts to ring. I check the ID, and smile as I read the name.

Leah 🚀

"Hey, Leah."

"Cody! Are you on your way home yet?"

"I'm heading to the airport. I'll be back before you know it."

"That's great, love. I'll pick you up! See you soon!"

I chuckle at her enthusiasm, wishing and hoping that it'll rub off on me, and I settle into the silence engulfing the car. I'm not complaining though, there's nothing I hate more than a talkative Uber driver.

Ever had a moment when you've thought 'this is a really bad fucking idea', but you feel like you have to do it anyway?

I have to stand with my teammate on this, because she's my friend and roommate but it also means going against another friend.

It's not something I'd ever get involved with, I avoid my own relationship drama, I'm not looking to get in the middle of someone else's. The only reason I'm doing this is because I don't want anything to stress Cody out, I don't want her to relapse.

"Open up!" I knock on her door, repeatedly. "Rachel, open the fucking door!"

"Ugh. What is your problem, Nobbs?" She groans as she opens the door to see me. I ignore her, and walk straight into her room, greeting Steph as I enter. "Oh, sure. Come on in." She mutters, but leaves the door open.

"Shut the fuck up, Rachel."

"Who do you think-"

"I'm talking to you." I cut her off, knowing she's growing angry and increasingly offended.

"Jordan, calm down." Steph tries to diffuse the situation.

"With all due respect, Steph, this has nothing to do with you." I tell her, before turning back to Rachel. "Stay the fuck away from Cody. Don't send her texts, don't call her. Leave her alone."

"What did you do to Cody?" A voice from the door startles all of us.

"Kristie, don't listen to her." Rachel tries, but it only succeeds in fuelling my fire.

"She sent her a picture of you." I tell Mewis, giving her my full attention. "She's gone."

"Gone?" Rachel laughs. "Bit of an overreaction."

"Not now, Rachel." Kristie grits out, glaring at her Dash teammate. She grabs my hand and pulls me out of the room, closing the door to Rachel's room behind me. "Is she okay?"

"Uhhhhh."

"Jordan. Is she okay?" She asks once more, with more authority to it.

"She's pissed off and stressed, but she's okay. Just stay away from her, she needs space." I walk away, leaving the American standing there, confused.

"Are you okay, Al?" Pinoe asks, taking a break after enduring the beep test. I only nod in response, hiding behind the act of catching my breath. It doesn't work.

"What's wrong?" She asks. The question immediately gaining the attention of our other teammates who have already completed the test.

"Nothing." I stand, preparing to evade everyone that asks, but a hand on my wrist stops me. She pulls me away, out of earshot of our teammates.

"What's wrong?" Tobin asks, staring into my eyes.

"Cody's gone."

"SHE DIED?!" Kelley screams, jumping to the wrong conclusion.

"O'Hara?" Tobin gets her attention, and Kel nods. "Go away."

We silently watch her walk away, leaving me alone with Tobin, again.
"What's going on?"

"I don't know. Something's wrong with her but she won't tell me. I'm afraid she's avoiding everything by going back to London." I admit my worries to my best friend and girlfriend, who listens intently.

"Maybe she knows what she's doing." Tobin says, pulling me in for a hug, her arms around my waist. "She's a smart kid, she'll call you if she needs you."

I hate flying. Crammed in a airtight container, squished between strangers, some of which don't practice personal hygiene. It's no surprise that I'm relieved and happy to be back on the ground. After getting my bags, I move to find my teammate, Leah.

It doesn't take long before she finds me, an overexcited heap of Englishness barrels into me, lifting me in the air and spinning me around.

"I've missed you."

"You barely know me." I mutter, even if it's rude, it's true.

"Don't be an arse. We're teammates, and you'll learn to love me." She slings her arm around my shoulder, glancing at me when I chuckle. "What the hell are you laughing at?"

"Arse." I tell her, unable to halt my laughter as I fail miserably at faking an English accent.

"That was awful, love."

"I'll get better, ." I mimick, heading to Leah's car. She helps me with my bags and drives me back to my apartment.

"Let me know if you need anything. You are the baby in the team." She grins, knowing it only serves to annoy me. "See ya!" She hits the gas and peels away from the curb, leaving me annoyed, but happy to be home.
