After spending the day with Kristie, I headed back to the hotel and went straight to Ali's room, just to spend more time with her. We spend the next hour catching up. After talking with Ali and Tobin, under the watchful gaze of Ashlyn, I decided to leave the trio and head to my own room.
"Oh shit!" I yelped, hand on my chest in a bid to reduce the thumping of my heart. "Don't sneak up on people!"
"Sorry, baby girl." My mom chuckled, brushing a spray hair out of my face. "What were you doing in Ali's room?"
"Just catching up, I missed her." I reply, almost immediately.
"Okay, baby. I'll come by your room and see you later, okay?" I nod, not wanting my voice to betray me. Thankfully my mom doesn't seem suspicious and kisses my head as we say goodbye.
I take the stairs, too impatient to wait for an elevator, and climb two floors. I open the door onto the floor number my room is on, and walk out only to crash into someone. I basically bounce off of them, and fall back into the door.
"Ugh. Why is it always me?" I grumble, rubbing my head where it collided with the heavy door.
"I could say the same thing."
"Oh, you again." I laugh as Kristie narrows her eyes, offering me her hand to help me up. "So...is this just how we say hello, now?"
"I guess so." She looks at our hands still connected and immediately removes her hand from mine. "I was actually looking for you, but Jordan said you were talking with Ali."
"Is everything okay?"
"Relax, everything's fine." She smiles to ease my concerns. "I just wanted to know if you wanted to maybe get dinner tomorrow?" She asks, stammering as she goes, clearly showing her nerves.
"I don't know, Krissy. Will there be doors there?" I ask, glaring at the heavy door I collided with, eliciting a laugh from the tan beauty.
"I'm afraid so, but I'm hoping that won't stop you from saying yes." She tilts her head to the side as she continues to smile at me. I can feel my insides turning to mush as she waits for my answer.
"I'd love to." I grin at her when she sighs in relief.
"Awesome. I'll text you later with the deets." She kisses my cheek before almost running away, realizing what she did. I shake off our encounter and head to my room.
I open the door, expecting to find my injured teammate relaxing, alone. However, I'm immediately on edge when I see the only English person I have a problem with, and she's sitting on my bed.
"Hey Codes!" Jordan beams, either ignoring the tension, or just completely oblivious to it. "This is-"
"We've met." Rachel cuts her off, standing up to glare at me. "This is the girl I told you about Jordan, the one that likes to steal girlfriends."
"I didn't steal anyone from you." I spit through gritted teeth.
"Whatever." She chuckles bitterly. "That won't happen again anyway."
"What does that mean?" Jordan asks, standing to her feet as she senses the weight in the room, like one wrong word and fists will start flying.
"It means," Rachel begins her sentence facing Jordan, before turning her attention to me. "That I know how to hang on to that girl now." She takes a few steps until she's in front of me. "You're just a kid, you can't give her what she wants. What she needs."
"That's enough, Rachel." Jordan interrupts, and stands beside me, her hand on my back. "You can leave now." I don't speak as Rachel eyes Jordan, who doesn't flinch. "That's me asking nicely."
