"Do you have to stay for the verdict?" Lena asks as we Skype.

"No, and I don't plan to. I can't wait to get out of here." I admit, thinking ahead to the next day of my uncle's trial.

"Great, because I miss you, beautiful."

I return the goofy smile she sends my way. "Why are you not asleep?"

"I wanted to talk to you." She shrugs, before yawning and rubbing her eyes. "I wanted to be sure you were okay. The media is going crazy over here, I was worried."

"I figured. I've been ignoring my phone all day, but it's cute that you care."

I roll my eyes when she winks at me and bites her lip before she appears to grow serious and clears her throat.

"It's not just the media. A certain teammate of mine has been bugging me."

"Jack?" I ask my girlfriend and she nods, pursing her lips.

"She wants to know why you didn't tell her, or why I didn't say anything to anyone else."

"I'll see her when I get home and explain it face-to-face. You should get some sleep though, you look like your dying."

I say goodnight to my girlfriend, and close my laptop before flopping back on the bed and letting out a frustrated sigh. Before my mind can run wild, a knock on the door saves me.

"Uh, hi?"

"Hello." Jordyn sings, stretching out the 'o' in her greeting. She grins at me after taking a side glance at a silent Kristie. "I wanted to check up on you, found this creature standing, staring at your door." My Canadian friend shrugs before barging her way into my room and opening my laptop, presumably for Netflix, but I really can't be sure when it comes to Jordyn.

I turn my attention back to my ex, who seems conflicted. "Are you okay, Krissy?"

"You know, you're the only one who calls me that." She mumbles, but I hear every word perfectly. "I'm okay though. I wanted to make sure you were, but you seem fine and you clearly have company, I don't want to intrude." She blurts out, in an attempt to make her point and flee the scene. Until Jordyn chuckles.

"You two are so awkward, it's fun to watch." She simply shrugs under the intense glare I send her way. "For real, your relationship should be on Netflix. I'd watch that. As long as it's not dramatically long, just short and sweet, like-"

"Jordyn!" Kristie and I seem to yell in sync.

"What?"

"Shut up." I let Kristie finish our sentence, turning my back on the weird Canadian who invaded my bed, to give my ex my full attention.

"Come in." I step aside, hoping she passes the threshold but instead she sends me a look and I roll my eyes. "Please?" She clearly thinks it over before caving in.

I spend the next few hours sitting between my friend and my ex, which was awkward at first but Kristie and I gradually became more comfortable and relaxed, even with Jordyn and her comments about our relationship.

"You know, it's both sweet and creepy that you have a spare keycard for Cody's room." Jeri states, before adruptly pausing as we walk down the hallway to my daughter's room. "Wait. You don't have a key to my  room do you?!"
