"Don't nobody know how good it feels when you get a little Heaven and you been through Hell."
- EKOH

Kristie leaped from her seat on the other couch when she seen the flash of headlights shining through her window.

Cody was home.

Glancing at Jack to make sure she was still sleeping, the Houston player opened the front door, coming face to face with a torn Cody.

Kristie found her concern heighten to new levels.

"What happened? Are you okay?" Kristie rattled off question after question, grabbing the brunette's hand to gently pull her inside. Closing the door, the blonde turned to Cody, letting her eyes scan her body for any injuries. She may have been overreacting but all rational thought dissipated when it came to Cody.

"I'm okay." Cody sighed. Usually the actions of Kristie would make her smile, and while she did appreciate that the blonde did care, she was too worried for her best friend to smile. "How is she?"

Kristie found herself sighing. She wished she could slap Rachel herself, solely to prevent the two best friends going through it. It seemed like hurt and heartbreak followed the duo, and while in the case of Cody that was Kristie's own fault, she wished she could go back and change. She would knock some sense into her past self, tell her she was throwing away something incredible, that Cody was someone to be treasured not dismissed. She would also go back to Ellie, tell her that Jack was worth it too. She would do anything to keep the blonde away from Rachel, who - despite the short happiness - only hurt her in the end.

Cody left Kristie standing, unable to pull the woman from her deep, and slightly irrational thoughts, to find Jack asleep on the couch. She had a blanket over her, and the brunette knew immediately that Kristie had put it there. Cody crouched beside her childhood friend, finding solace in the peaceful expression on Jack's face, and threaded her fingers through her blonde hair.

She felt foolish. While her best friend was trying to drink her sorrow away, Cody was on a warpath that lead to nowhere, while she should have been here. She should have been there for Jack. She shouldn't have left.

"Thank you," Cody mumbled to Kristie after leaving a kiss on the forehead of her best friend.

"For what?" Kristie asked quietly, afraid to wake her teammate, but she couldn't fight the small smile as she watched Cody's gesture.

"Taking care of her when I should have, I should have been here for her, I should have—"

Cody felt her small rant cut off as she was pulled into the arms of Kristie. The blonde had Cody secured in her embrace, wishing she could protect her from everything, even her own emotions. She couldn't. But the hug was what Cody needed, and Kristie knew that. She knew the brunette well enough by now to know that when it comes to Jack, Cody would always blame herself - even if it had nothing to do with her.

It wasn't odd, not to Kristie. She knew Jack did the same when it came to Cody.

"Come on," Kristie mumbled, taking Cody's hand in her own and led her to the other couch. There was extra cushions and blankets on the plush, soft surface. "I figured you wouldn't want to be too far from her tonight. And I don't want to be too far from you so...I guess we're both sleeping on the couch tonight."

No other words were spoken between to the two. They both knew that Cody wanted to fight the blonde on it, to tell her that Kristie should sleep in her bed. However they both knew that Kristie would fight her on it, too.

So despite the heartbroken Houston player on one couch, the night ended sweetly as the young Morgan found herself a small spoon as she was wrapped up in Kristie's arms once again, the blonde leaving small kisses on the brunette's neck, the two slowly drifted to sleep.
