"And I put my best foot forward on this night..."
-Tech N9ne.
Alex was alone at home, Ash and Ali taking Blue out to the beach with them and Logan. She wanted to join them but it gave her the time and peace to look up housing in Portland. She wasn't sure if she wanted to leave Orlando, she had grown to love it, but at the end of the day she felt that she needed to do this to fix her relationship with her daughter, and her daughter came first. She always would."Why not just stay with Tobin?" Jeri asks as she sips her coffee.
Did I mention peace? Scratch that.
"I don't wanna intrude, not that you would understand that concept." Alex deadpans, playfully galring at her sister.
"Intrude?" Jeri rubs her chin in thought. "Nah, you're making that word up."
The sisters share a small laugh before Jeri sits next to Alex.
"Seriously though, I'm sure Tobin wouldn't mind. Then you would be like a little family."
There was an awkward silence, one that Alex was hoping they could ignore, but Jeri was filled with questions, and Jeri wasn't the master of subtlety.
"You don't want that do you?" She asks Alex who continues to ignore her. "Are you having second thoughts?!"

"Are you sure about this?" Rachel asks Jack and Cody as she sits in the backseat. It was romantic really, that Jack had banished her to the backseat so that she could sit beside her best friend who was riding shotgun.
Jack grins, "Absolutely–""Not." Cody finishes, being honest with Rachel. Not that Jack was lying - she truly did believe it was a good idea.
It wasn't.
The three sat in the car parked outside Kristie's, there were a few cars parked on the street.
"Are you sure she's even here?" Cody appears to ask Jack, but the question was really aimed at Rachel; who seemed to be the adult in this situation.
"Yep," Jack popped the 'p', before pulling her backpack from the backseat, muttering an apology to her girlfriend when the bag hit her in the face. "Okay, I got the ski mask–"
"You know what, I think I'll just knock on the door," Cody cuts Jack off, who proceeded to pull the black ski mask from the backpack.
"Take it with you just in case," Jack grinned, ignoring Rachel who facepalmed.
"Please don't," Rachel prompted, "That could end badly, and by that I mean the three of us in jail for a terrible prank gone wrong."
"Don't listen to her," Jack waved Rachel off, relishing in having her best friend with her, "I wouldn't steer you wrong. Do it."
Cody smiled at the grin on her best friend's face, before taking the ski mask from Jack's hand, "Okay."
"Oh God," Rachel mumbles before slithering down the seat trying to hide.
Cody got out the seat and began walking to the front door. Jack and Rachel watched her from the car, "Do you think she'll use the mask?"
"I hope not," Rachel muttered. "Her leg hasn't fully healed, she'll never outrun Kristie."
Jack only laughed, the image playing in her mind as she watched Cody's arm rise in a knocking motion.
The laughing dies as the door opens and a man steps out, "Oh shit."
"Who the hell is that?" Jack asks Rachel as her girlfriend seems to recognize him.
"That's her ex."
Cody almost falls over as the man takes her by surprise as he storms out the door. Before she could trip over her own leg, a hand grips her upper arm.
"Cody? What are you doing here?" Kristie asks, not a sliver of confrontation in her tone, but genuine confusion. "Shouldn't you be in Oregon?"
Cody's eyes follow the guy that left as he gets in his car and slams his door before driving away. "Uh, sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt, I just wanted to say thanks."
"You're not interrupting," Kristie slowly removes her hand from Cody's bicep, letting her hand run down the length of her arm to her hand, where the ski mask is. "Uh...if you're planning on robbing me you should really have that on before you come to my door."
The joke worked in easing the awkwardness in the air, Kristie smiling as Cody laughs.
"It was Jack's idea. You know me, I can't say no to her," Cody smiles, watching as Kristie laughs before scanning the area until her eyes land on Jack's car. Both women laugh as they clearly see Jack's eyes widen before she ducks down. "I should probably start saying no to her."
"Do you wanna come in?"
"Uh no, I just wanted to ask you out for lunch, or coffee, or whatever...as a thank you for helping me," Cody begins to ramble. She hated it, but the guy threw her off, all confidence now abandoned her.
"Is it just a thank you?" Kristie asked, leaning against the doorframe with a small smirk on her lips. "Or is it a date, Cody?"
