"With Portland Thorns recent signing of Cody Morgan, we at ESPN decided to take a trip to England to see how our friends across the pond really felt about the young Pro being dubbed the 'Mini Morgan'."
Ha, she can't ever be anything else but Alex's daughter...
"Thanks for sitting down with us, ladies. For those who don't know, we're joined today by Leah Williamson, Jordan Nobbs and Daniëlle van de Donk. Now, let's get down to business. What was Cody like?"
The three women glance at one another before Leah decides to take the question.
"She was great, we clicked straight away. She was rarely serious, always sarcastic and sassy, and when she would step on the pitch, she would be a completely different person. She takes her job seriously and it's something we all admired about her."
"That's good. So, did you ever meet Alex?"
Oh, come on.
"Well, we've met through playing against each other when we were called up for our national teams, but yeah after Cody signed with us we seen more of Alex."
"Thanks Jordan. Okay, we've spoken about her professional life, family life. Can any of you tell us about her romantic life?"
"Ehh..." Danielle hesitates, knowing the question was aimed at her because she's yet to answer. "It's not our place to say, that's Cody's business and she's our friend, so no comment."
She may be your friend, but she's my daughter. Not Alex's. Mine.

"Yeah, I seen it. It looked painfully awkward." I laugh at Leah as she glares at me. It's a glare I've missed since I moved Stateside.
"You know what, you can just-" She starts. I frown when she stops talking, sitting wide eyed as she stares at her screen.
"Uh...are you frozen?"
"N-no. It's just weird..." Leah whispers.
"You? Yeah, no shit." I mutter. "What's weird?"
"How much they look alike."
"The fuck are you talking about?"
"Language, Codes." Tobin scolds, and the pieces finally click.
"Ohhh. I get it now. And sorry, mom." I send Tobin an innocent smile, which is obviously sarcastic.
I've been living with the Pro since I signed a few weeks ago. It was only a temporary arrangement, but mom decided to intervene, telling us it's a great chance for us to bond, much like I did with Ali. For some reason, it's not as natural with Tobin as it was with Ali, and now the only time I call Tobin 'mom' is when I'm being sarcastic.
