"Fate shuffles the cards and we play"
- SCHOPENHAUER, Reinhold.| Cody |
"Once again, Chelsea apologized profusely for any offense caused with their recent sexist tweet-"I sip my coffee while Jordan flicks through the channels, laughing about Chelsea's recent problems.
"The only time the women's game makes the news here, it's always when someone does something wrong." My rommate complains. "Anyway, are you still having lunch with Lena?"
"I am, I'm meeting her soon. Where's Leah?"
I narrow my eyes when Jordan's body language changes. She shifts uncomfortably and avoids eye contact.
"She's still mad."
"About your coaching skills?" I chuckle, only stopping when Nobbs glares at me.
"Shut it. She's easily angered."
"No shit." I laugh, jumping from my seat and running from my roommate who tries to slap me.
________| Lena |
Sitting in the local cafe near the training complex, I save a seat for my girlfriend, internally hoping that my plan doesn't backfire. Backfiring in the sense that Cody storms off and decides to never talk to me again.
I'm pulled from my reverie as I spot the tanned brunette enter the cafe. She scans the area before she spots me waving and a grin spreads across her beautiful face. I stand to greet her in a hug that I don't want to end.
"Hey, beautiful." I grin as a deep blush sets across her her cheeks while I brush a stray hair our of her face.
"Hi." She shyly greets, and sits when I motion for her to do so. "So, why did you pick this place?"
"I always come here, it's close to where I train, and it's quiet." I smile as she grabs my hand, the complete opposite from the shy girl that stood before me moments ago, and she intertwines our fingers. "There's also something else..."
"What is it?" Cody asks concerned just as another person enters the cafe, the blonde hair immediately catching my attention.
"Uh...don't be mad." I start, and she lets go of my hands and narrows her eyes at me. "But I think there's something you really need to talk to, and as your girlfriend, I'm making you talk to her. I mean it, you're not leaving here until you do, because she's moody and I hate it." I motion Jack over from behind Cody's view.
"I'll leave you two alone."
| Cody |"Um...hey, Cody." Jack starts as she hesitantly takes Lena's seat. "I honestly thought you knew about this-"
"Well, I didn't. Did you put Lena up to this?"
"No, she came to me with the idea, but I think she's right. We need to talk." I watch my best friend sit in silence, biting my lip, before she takes it upon herself to start the conversation. "Look, I know that our relationship got...complicated, to say the least, I just wanted to apologize. I was a wreck after Ellie, and instead of opening up to you, or anyone else, I bottled it all up and got my feelings about you confused." She holds her hand up to silence me when I finally open my mouth to speak. "I figured my feelings out a long time ago, and I wanted to tell you that I don't like you like that, but you cut me off before I had the chance. I know you're happy with Lena, and that's all I ever want for you, but I miss my best friend."
