"I don't care, Jack. You need to tell her. Don't you think she would like to know that you're not gonna be living in Idaho anymore?" I ask Jack as she sits on her bed in our shared room. We would have gotten seperate rooms but the hotel was booked up.
"I know." She grumbles, her head dropping into her hands. "But she's finally talking to me now, and I don't want to ruin anything."
"Telling her won't ruin anything, she'll be happy, and you know she will. So what's really stopping you?" I ask more sternly, and I watch as she takes a deep breath.
"I bumped into Ellie."
"Oh. Jack, don't." I tell her, sitting on the bed across from her. "Don't play Cody like this, not like everyone else has. Be sure of your feelings before anything happens - with anyone."

I'm in the weight room, training with the US team as they get ready for their first game. Unbelievably, Jill was kind enough to let me tag along to get a workout in.
"I can't believe Jill is letting you in here." Allie mutters, slinging her arm around my shoulders as she waits her turn.
"That makes two of us. I've heard nothing but horror stories from Linds, Mal, Sam and Rose." I glance at the Pro that towers over me and we both shiver, before we start laughing.
"How come Allie gets to hang out with the child and I can't?" Kling moans, her eyebrows furrowing. She's wearing a slight pout.
"There's a mirror over there, Kling." Carli cuts in. "Go hang out with your reflection, child."
Carli leaves Kling speechless while she walks away, I can see her smirking as she leaves, happy that she gave the entire room a laugh at her teammate's expense.
"She's fucking savage." I mumble and I see Allie nod in my peripheral vision, before a sharp pain overtakes my head. "Ow, the fuck?!" I spin around to see my mom glaring at me, a hand on her hip and an eyebrow raised. "Oh...hey mom."
"Mhmm." She doesn't say anything else before she leaves, too.
"If looks could kill..." Allie trails off when Jill calls her, telling her that it's her turn and to get started.
"Hey, c'mon." Ali grabs my arm and leads me to the treadmills. We start on an easy jog before gradually upping the tempo until we're sprinting in short bursts. "So, we need to talk later."
"Oh no. Did I do something to make you mad? Shit. Alex is already mad, I can't have both of my parents angry with me." My rambling is cut off by Ali laughing, resulting in me throwing her a confused glance to see that she's turned off the treadmill, and giving me her full attention.
"Why is Alex mad?"
"I dunno." I mumble, only to hear my mom's raspy voice interrupt.
"She swears like a sailor."
"Where the fuck did you come from?" I ask, not having spotted her anywhere near us.
"See?" She says, before leaving again.
"Alex has a point." Ali laughs before her smile lessens. "It's not a bad discussion, but it is one we need to have anyway."
"Uh...okay?"
"Krieger, you're up!" Dawn yells from the other end of the gym and Ali pats my arm before she walks towards the weights.
I leave the weight room, happy with my workout, and in desperate need of a shower. Wiping my forehead with the towel I brought, my vision becomes obstructed and I walk right into someone. I hear the wind being knocked out of them when they hit the floor, myself landing on top of them. I pull the towel away, and see my ex beneath me.
