Joe and Dianne: Oneshots

How did you meet?

(Set 15 years in the future. Joe and Dianne are married and have three children. Ellie- 10, Khai- 8 and Charlotte- 5)

Dianne had just picked her kids up from school and was now on there way home.

Dianne- How was school
Charlotte- I did some painting mummy
She lifted up her picture showing it to Dianne's
Dianne- that's brilliant baby
Ellie- I have to do a school project
Dianne- what's it on
Ellie- we have to do it on out family
Dianne- just ask me or daddy if you need any help

They all got to the front door and walked into the house. The kids went off to play and Dianne went into the kitchen starting dinner. Once dinner was nearly ready Dianne went round to Joe's office and knocked on the door

Joe- come in
I opened the door and walked over to him sitting on his lap. I placed a kiss on his lips.
Dianne- dinner is nearly ready it will be five minutes.
Joe- cool I'll be out in a minute babe. I've nearly finished all my work for tonight.

Dianne went back into the kitchen to start dishing up the food and Joe finished his last little bit of work closing his laptop once he had finished. He made his way into the kitchen coming behind Dianne and hugging her from behind.

Joe- have you told the kids dinner is ready
Dianne- not yet can you call them for me
Joe walked to the bottom of the stair and shouted up the stairs
Joe- kids dinner is ready. Wash your hands and come down please.

A couple of minutes later footsteps could be heard coming down the stairs. The children sat down at the table as Dianne placed the food in front of them.

All children- thank you mummy
They started to eat the food
Dianne- hows the project going
Ellie- good but I need to ask you and daddy some questions for it
Joe- What have you got to do a project on
Ellie- family. I going to do it on you and mummy.
Dianne- What do you need help with baby
Ellie- how did you and daddy meet
Dianne and Joe looked at each other and smiled Joe reaching his hand out for Dianne's

Dianne- you know I use to be a professional dancer before I had you three. There use to be a programme on tv called Strictly Come Dancing which was a dancing competition.
Ellie- and you and daddy danced on it together
Joe- yes, I was the celebrity and mummy was the professional. Your mummy taught me how to dance in the competition and we made it all the way to the final.
Ellie- and you fell in love on the show
Dianne- Yeah, we spent everyday together and we got on so well
Joe- we where just friends to start off with but as the competition went on and I spent more time with your mummy I realised that I had feelings for her.
Ellie- so daddy did you ask mummy out
Joe- no. We kept dancing throughout the competition but we both hid out feelings. It was actually your aunt Amy that got us together.
All three children had all turned to look at their mum and dad.
Khai- What did she do
Dianne- well it got to the final and we where both insisting there was nothing between us but friendship. I think she could tell we where both just scared. I had just come out of a difficult relationship and your dad hadn't been in a relationship for a long time. We didn't want to mess up what we already had.
Joe- so anyway at the after party she thought it would be a good idea to invite one of her friends and get them to flirt with your mother all night in the hope that I would get jealous.
Dianne- and it worked
Joe- it definitely did. (Joe turned his head and smiled at Dianne before turning back to the children)From the minute we got to the party he was stuck to her like glue. He was buying her drinks, giving her little touches and laughing at everything she said. I'm pretty sure all I did was stare at them that night.
Ellie- so did you tell her how you felt that night.
Joe- Yeah. After watching them for a few hours I decided I couldn't take anymore. I saw him lean in and whisper something in your mother's ear and that was it. I stormed over there and the next thing I know I have your mother wrapped in my arms and I'm kissing her.
Dianne- I was completely shocked. I knew I had feeling for your dad but I didn't know he had them for me. Well I knew he liked me as a friend but I didn't think it was more then that.
Joe- we only stop kissing because we could hear cheering around us. I broke of from your mum and we both looked around the room. I can remember your mums face going bright red when she realised everyone had been watching us. I took her outside and we went and sat on a little bench outside the studio where we use to go before the Saturday shows for a little breather.
Dianne- that's where your dad told me that he was in love with me. That he knew I probably didn't feel the same but he had to tell me. He couldn't stand other people flirting with me in front of him.
Joe- after I told your mum I was in love with her I think she was shocked. She just sat there for a few minutes and I was getting really nervous, like I had ruined our friendship. I thought if I couldn't have her how I wanted her I could at least still have her as a friend. I needed her in my life in some way.
Dianne- well your dad went to get up because I hadn't said anything I him. I could feel him walking away and that's when I shouted to him I love you too. I knew I couldn't lose him. We sat outside talking and kissing for ages until we decided we should go back in side. When we went inside your dad had his arm wrapped around me and we couldn't help the smiles on our faces. You should have seen your aunt Amy she looked so happy once she realised her plan had actually worked. She didn't actually tell us about what she did until our first anniversary.
Joe- since that day me and you mother have never been apart (Joe looks over at Dianne and smiles taking her hand.) I can honestly tell you kids that your mother is the best thing that has every happened to me. She taught me what love was and she gave me you three.
