Meet the parents

Joe's POV

Dianne's tour starts in a matter of days and she informed me last night that her parents are coming to see one of the shows in London and are gonna stay over for a few weeks. She told me that I didn't have to meet them if I didn't want to but I told her I did want to meet them. I had spoke to them a few times when Dianne was FaceTiming them but this would be totally different. It would be the first time since high school I would be meeting a girlfriends parents as I had been single for a long time. I was feeling nervous about it really hope they liked me because I loved their daughter.

Dianne's POV

The tour was going so well. I had two days off now and then we would be starting on the shows in London. My mum and dad where flying over at the moment and only had a couple of hours left off their flight. I was really looking forward to seeing them again. It was so hard living on the opposite side of the world to them. Me and Joe where going to pick them up from the airport once they had landed but at the moment we where just putting the finishing touches to their room. They where staying at Joe's with us as he now had a spare room since Byron had moved out. I could tell Joe was nervous about meeting them because he couldn't sit still and kept checking we had everything that my parents liked. I told him that it would be fine, my parents could see how happy I was.

Joe's POV

We had just got to the airport and we where just waiting for Dianne's parents to come through. They had just texted her telling her they where just waiting for their luggage. Ten minutes later Dianne's mum text her again saying they where just heading through and would be with us in a few minutes. I could feel my hands start to sweat a little when she told me this. She looked at me and smiled and pulled me into a hug. 'They will love you' she said. A few minutes later I saw them walk through and Dianne's made a run for them pulling her mum and dad into a hug. She had a massive smile on her face and I could see how happy she was they where both her. She pulled back from them and turned to me introducing me to both of her parents. Her dad gave me a hand shake and her mum gave me a hug. We then made our way out of the airport, me holding Dianne's mums luggage for her, as Dianne and her mum walked in front chatting. Me and her dad made chit chat as we walked to the car mostly talking about Australia. Once we got to the car I put all the luggage in and then we made our way back to my house.

Dianne's POV

I was so happy to see my mum and dad. I introduced them both to Joe and then we made out way to the car. Me and my mum where walking in front talking and I turned around and was happy to see that my dad and Joe seemed to be getting on well. I couldn't hear what they where talking about but at least they weren't in awkward silence. Once we got to the car we made out way back to Joe's. We showed my parents around the house and then showed them to their room. My parents decided they where going to have a nap as they where really jet lagged so me and Joe went and sat on the sofa and started to watch a movie, me snuggling into his side and him with his arms wrapped around me. A couple of hours later I heard a noise behind me and turned around to see my mum and dad coming out of their room. 'Have a good nap' I asked. 'Yeah thanks darling' my dad replied. They came and took a seat next to us Joe asking them if they wanted drinks and then coming back with them for all of us.

Joe's POV

Dianne's parents had been here awake for a few hours now and we had just been sitting in my living room Dianne catching up with her parents and them telling me stories about her when she was little. I loved learning new things about her and all the stories where so sweet. I could tell Dianne was the apple of her dad's eye. 'Are you guys hungry' I asked her parents. 'Yeah I'm a little peckish' her mum replied. 'How about we go out for dinner, my treat' I said. 'That sounds lovely' her dad replied. We made our way down to my car and I drove us to the restaurant. Once we had parked we had a five minute walk to the restaurant. I took Dianne's hand entwining our fingers as we walked along chatting to her parents. When we got to the restaurant I held the door open as everyone walked in. We where shown to our table and I held the chair out for Dianne as she sat down placing a kiss on her forehead before I sat down. We had a lovely dinner talking about Australia, my vlogs and of course Dianne. It got to the end of the evening and I suggested we all went back and watched a film. Me and Dianne sat snuggled up on one side of the sofa. Half way through the film I heard Dianne's breathing get heavy and I looked down to see she was fast asleep. I gently moved her red hair to the side before placing a kiss on her cheek turning to enjoy the rest of the film.

Mark's POV (Dianne's dad)

We had just finished dinner and made our way back to Joe's flat. We decided to watch a movie and half way through I looked over towards them and noticed that Dianne was fast asleep. Joe looked down at her and gently stroked her hair placing a kiss on her cheek. The way he looked at her was like she was the best thing in the world to him. It was so nice to see her so happy and for her to be with someone who treated her the way she should be treated. 'Joe can I have a word with you please' I asked making sure Dianne was still asleep. 'Sure' he said. He squeezed out from underneath Dianne and gently laid her down on the sofa. He grabbed a blanket of the sofa and placed it over her looking down at her and gently stroking her hair. This made me smile. He then turned towards me and we made our way into the kitchen. 'I just wanna make sure your treating my Dot right' I asked. 'She has had some stinkers of boyfriends before who didn't treat her right.' 'Mark' he said seriously 'I love your daughter with all of my heart. She is the most special thing that has every happened to me and I would never do anything to hurt her. I promise you I'll treat her like the princess she is everyday that she will let me.' I reached over and gave him a manly hug pulling back I said 'thank you' before we made our way back into the living room. I always worried about her being on the opposite side of the country. She was so trusting and it was nice to see she had finally meet the right person.

Joe's POV

Mark had just had the conversations with me about treating his daughter right and I think it went really well. He hugged me before we made our way back to the living room. Dianne was still asleep so I turned to Mark and Rina and said 'I think we are gonna go to bed now.' I sat on the floor in front of Dianne and gently stroked her hair. 'Baby, let's go to bed now' I said to her gently. Her eyes slowly opened turning towards me and I helped her to her feet. We both went over to her parents saying night before I took her hand and led her up to my room. Once we where ready for bed we cuddled under the covers and she was back to sleep in a few seconds. I laid there thinking about how well today had gone and how I felt like I had her mum and dad's approval. It was very important to me that they liked me as Dianne was the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.

Rina's POV (Dianne's mum)

Joe and Dianne had just gone to bed and me and Mark where sitting on the sofa watching the rest of the film. I turned towards Mark and said 'I think she had found a good one there.' 'Yeah me too, the way he looks at her you can see how much he loves her.' 'What did you guys talk about' I asked him. 'I was just making sure he treated her right. You know she is always gonna me the apple of my eye, she is my only little girl.' I smiled at that Dianne had always been a daddy's girl. 'Did his answer reassure you' I asked. 'Yep, he told me he would never do anything to hurt her and would treat her like the princess she is' Mark told me smiling. 'I'm so glad we came over' I said 'I think these two might be serious, I think she has found the one she is going to spend the rest of her life with, marry and have kids with.' We both looked at each other and smiled, before getting up and going to our own room going to bed.
