Joe and Dianne: Oneshots

Unfortunate accident

Dianne's POV

It is currently week three of the competition and this week me and Dev are doing a couples choice routine. We decided that we where going to do a street dance as Dev really wanted to do this. Training had been going really well and Dev has picked up the routine really quickly. It is currently Thursday and the last of training before we are in the studio. It is getting to the end of the day and we have decided we are going to run it five more times and then call it a day. We get into place and start the routine. It is going so well and then we go into the lift where Dev lifts me above his head and then suddenly I feel like I'm falling. Before I know what has happened my head has connected with the floor and I feel a sharp pain in my head and neck. Dev is down next to me so quickly asking if I am okay but I cant do anything but mumble. I try to sit up and tell him that I am okay but the minute I try to move I go really dizzy. I decide it is better if I just stay on the floor and keep my eyes closed.

Dev's POV

I have no idea what happened but one minutes we where doing the dance and then next minute I had dropped Dianne from one of the lifts onto the floor. I get on my knees next to her and ask her if she is okay but the only thing that comes out of her mouth is some mumbles. I see her try to move and then she gives up and decides just to lay still. I begin to panic and don't know what to do. That is when I remember that Alex and Neil are training in the room next to us. I quickly run out of the studio and barge into their studio next door. 'You have to come and help' I say 'Dianne is hurt.' I then run out of the studio and back into ours with both of them following me. Dianne is still laying on the floor and she hasn't moved. Neil quickly makes his way over to her and bends down next to her. 'What happened' he asked. 'We where practicing one of the lifts and she slipped out of my grasp and fell head first onto the floor.' 'Okay can you call and ask for medical support. There should be a first aider around here somewhere. Tell them they need to come to the studio now.' I grab my phone and walk out of the studio to go and make the call.

Neil's POV

We are having a great day and Alex is doing so brilliantly with this routine. We are half way through her routine when Dev runs into the studio. He looks really panicked and says something about needing help and Dianne being hurt and then he is running back out of the studio. Me and Alex run after him and walk into their studio to see Dianne laying on the floor. I quickly make my way over to her and kneel down next to her. I stroke her hair and she just lets out a mumble. I look up at Dev and ask him what happened and he tells me. I tell him to call for a medic and then turn back to focus on Dianne. 'Can you open your eyes for me' I ask her. 'She opens her eyes and looks at me before closing them again very quickly 'dizzy' she says. 'Okay the medics will be here soon. Where does it hurt' I ask. 'My head' she replies. 'Okay just stay there and you will be fine' I reply. A couple of minutes later Dev walks back into the studio with a medic. The medics walks straight over to Dianne to check her over. With support from me and Alex we manage to get Dianne sitting up so she is resting against my chest. The medic asks her some questions and she is very hazy so they decide the best thing to do is for her to go to hospital. I tell them I will go with her as Dianne is one of my closest friends.

Dianne's POV

I am trying to concentrate on what is being said but my head is absolutely pounding. The medic, Alex and Neil all help me to sit up and I lean against Neil. I keep getting dizzy spells and I have to close my eyes to make it stop. I have closed my eyes once again when I hear the medic saying something about having to go to hospital. I really didn't want to but I knew that it was the best opinion. With support from Neil and Dev they manage to get me standing up and to the waiting Uber. Neil gets in the car with me and we start to make out way to the hospital. 'Do you want me to call Joe and tell him what happened' Neil asks. 'What's the time' I replied. 'Just after seven why' he replies. 'He is just going on stage now lets not worry him. I will tell him what happened later when I get back from the hospital.' When we get to the hospital I am checked in very quickly as the A&E is nearly empty. I explain to them what happened and show them the video that I have on my phone as I was recording at the time of the incident. They decide that I need to have an x ray to make sure I don't have any more serious injuries. I am starting to feel a little better. Even though my head is still pounding I can now keep my eyes open without being overtaken by dizzy spells.

Three hours later and I have had my x ray and they have concluded that I just have mild whiplash. I am told to take paracetamol and ibuprofen for the pain and in a few days it should be better. They also tell me that I have a big bump on the back of my head and that I will have a killer headache for a few days. They say the same tablets should help with that. They tell me that I am fine to dance I just need to be careful. They discharge me and Neil calls an Uber to take me home. He tells me he is just going to pop outside and that he will be back in a minute.

Dev's POV

I have been worried sick about Dianne since the minute the accident happened. After Neil took her to hospital I decided I might as well make my way home. When I get in I cant help but keep worrying. Neil said he would call me and let me know what was happening when they had some news. I try and distract myself by watching some tv and making myself some dinner but I can't eat because I am so worried. Three hours laters and I still haven't heard any news. I pick up my phone to give Neil a call when my phone starts to ring. I look down at the caller ID and see that it is Neil and quickly answer it. 'Hey how is she' I ask the minute I answer. 'She's okay. She's had an x ray and they said she has no permanent damage. She has mild whiplash and a big bump on the back on her head but they said she will be fine.' I let out a breath of relief as he told me this. I was really worried that I would have caused her some permanent damage. 'She has just been discharged so I'm about to take her home' Neil says. 'Cool thanks for calling me. Tell her that if she needs anything to call me and tell her that I am really sorry.' 'Okay mate I will do' Neil replies before we both say bye.

Dianne's POV

I am just waiting for Neil to come back so I can go home. I want nothing more right now then a cuddle from my boyfriend and some sleep. A couple of minutes later Neil walks back into the room and says 'you ready to go.' 'Yes' I reply as I slowly get off the bed. Neil grabs my bag off the end of the bed and then comes round next to me and lets me put my arm through his. 'How are you feeling' he asks as we make our way downstairs. 'Just a bit sore' I reply 'my neck is really stiff and my head is still banging but i'll be okay.' 'Good lets get you home.' We are home within twenty minutes and Neil takes me up to the apartment. I let us both in and I look around realising that Joe is not here yet. I look at the clock and realise he should be home very soon. Neil says he will stay with me until Joe gets home as he doesn't want to leave me alone. I take a seat of the sofa and Neil makes his way over to the kettle to make us both a cup of tea. He brings them over as well as some tablets for me to take. I thank him as I quickly swallow them. Ten minutes later I hear a sound at the door and then the sound of footsteps walking into the living room. I look up as he walks into the room and smile at him.

Joe's POV

I had finished another show of the waitress and couldn't wait to get home to see Dianne. I couldn't wait to see how there dance was going because I knew that both Dev and Dianne loved this routine. Thirty minutes later I thanked the driver and made my way up to our apartment. I opened the door and walked in to see Dianne and Neil sitting on the sofa. I thought it was a bit weird Neil being here but I didn't say anything and just walked over to Dianne and placed a kiss on her lips. 'Hey baby, hey Neil how was your day' I asked. 'A bit dramatic' Neil replied 'I'm gonna go now but I'm sure Dianne will explain to you what happened.' 'Thanks for looking after me' Dianne says to Neil as he places a kiss on her cheek. 'Anything for you. I'll see you tomorrow' and with that he gathered his stuff and left the apartment. I turned to look at Dianne and said 'what happened today then.' 'There was a little accident in the studio today' Dianne said. 'What happened' I asked. 'Well we where practicing the routine and we where doing the lifts and I fell.' 'Okay' I said 'was it a bad fall.' 'I landed on my head so pretty bad' she replied. 'Why didn't you call me' I asked as I wrapped my arms around her. 'You where going on stage and I didn't want to worry you. Anyway me and Neil have been at A&E for the last three hours and I have mild whiplash and a major bump on the back of my head.' 'Aww my poor baby' he said as he stroked my forehead. 'How are you feeling' I ask. 'Okay just a headache and a bit of stiffness in my neck but better for seeing you.' 'I'm glad your not feeling too bad. Is there anything I can do.' 'No but I'm so tired can we go to bed and cuddle' she asks. 'Of course baby' I reply as we both get up off the couch me keeping a hold of her hand. We go upstairs and get changed and get into bed. Dianne places her head on my chest as she snuggles up under my arm. I place a gently kiss on her forehead and say' Next time please call me. You are the most important person in my life and I want to make sure I am always there for you. I love you so much.' 'I love you too baby and I promise I will' and with that we both drift of to sleep.
