Dianne's POV

A week ago I had my smear test and I had been called back to see the doctor today. The fact that I had been asked to see the doctor again scared me a little bit as normally they just sent my results through the post. I decided not to tell Joe as I didn't want to worry him and I'm sure that it is nothing. I was sitting in the waiting room waiting for my name to be called. I was aimlessly flipping through a magazine not really reading any of it but just trying to make myself busy. Sudden I heard my name called asking me to go to room two. I got up and made my way to the room knocking on the door. I was greeted by the doctor and then asked to take a seat. I was nervous and I couldn't help but fiddle my fingers together. The doctor looked at the computer screen and then turned to look at me. He explained my results to me that I had some abnormal cells that need to be checked out. He explains to me that it could be nothing or it could be something more serious such as cancer. I sat there in stunned shock not sure what to say to him. He told me I would have to have further tests and that he would book them in for me as soon as possible. I just nodded at him my voice had seemed to escape my body and I couldn't get any sounds to leave my throat. He told me not to worry but I couldn't help but worry. I got up and left the doctors office and decided to walk back home.

I had just got back to the house that me and Joe shared and he greeted me at the door giving me a hug and placing a kiss on my cheek. 'How was your appointment' he asked. I don't know why but in that moment I decided to lie to him 'Yeah all good everything was normal.' I think I was in denial myself. We got on with the rest of the day filming an episode for In The Pan and a video for mine and his channel but in the back of the head what the doctor said was still floating around. I couldn't focus on the part where he said it could be nothing. The only thing going round my head was cancer and it absolutely petrified me. I was putting on a good show for the cameras and Joe through and I'm pretty sure he didn't suspect anything. It was starting to get late and I decided that I was going to go to bed to try and take my mine off of things. I got into bed but I couldn't seem to turn my mind off in order to go to sleep so I just laid there staring at the ceiling. An hour after I had gone to bed I heard Joe make his way upstairs. I was still wide but I pretended to fake sleep so Joe won't try and talk to me. I felt him get into bed behind me and then wrap his arm around my waist. He was asleep within five minutes and I twisted out of his arms moving myself right to the other side of the bed. After a couple of hours I finally got to sleep but I think it was out of pure exhaustion and I knew it wasn't going to be a peaceful sleep.

Joe's POV

Since Dianne had got back from the doctors she had been a been off and I couldn't work out what was wrong with her. She told me it all went well at the doctors which I was happy about but I still had a nagging feeling at the back of my brain that she wasn't telling me to whole story. After a long day of filming different videos for our channels Dianne decided to make her way up to bed. I decided to stay downstairs for a while and finish editing one of my videos. I placed a kiss on her lips and then she made her way upstairs. An hour later I had finished my editing and I decided to go to bed as well. I made my way upstairs to out bedroom to find Dianne fast asleep on her side of the bed. I quickly went into the bathroom to get changed and brush my teeth and then made my way into the room slipping into bed beside her wrapping my arms around her waist. I was fast asleep within five minutes.

I have no idea how long I had been asleep before I was awoken by a movement in the bed. I opened my eyes and looked to the side to see Dianne thrashing around in the bed. She was obviously in the middle of a nightmare but I had no idea what to do. I had never seen Dianne have one before. I wrapped my arms around her whispering into her ear that she was safe and I loved her so much. She started to calm down after a few moments and her eyes opened staring into mind looking really scared. 'Okay what's going on' I asked 'you have been acting weird since you came back from the doctors. Is there something you aren't telling me.' She sniffled as she nodded her head yes. 'Okay do you want to tell me what it is' I asked. 'I lied' she said. 'About what' I asked. 'The results of my smear test. They said I have a abnormal cells.' 'Okay what does that mean' I asked. 'It means I could have cancer' she said starting to cry again. I gathered her in my arms shocked at what she had just said. I couldn't believe it. After a while I managed to calm her down and we both fell back to sleep.

Dianne's POV

I woke up the next morning after a very restless sleep. I knew I hadn't slept well and I'm pretty sure Joe hadn't after my revelation. I turned my head to look at him to see that he was wide awake staring at me. I lent across and placed a kiss on his lips. 'How long have you been awake' I asked. 'About an hour I kept thinking over what you told me last night. I have booked another appointment with the doctor this morning so he can go over the results again. So I can be clear on what is going on as well. I hope you don't mind.' 'No that's fine' I replied 'I'm pretty sure I blanked out after he said the word cancer anyway. This time it won't be such a shock and I can actually hear properly what he says. When is the appointment for.' 'It in an hour so shall we get up and get ready and have breakfast before we go' he said. 'Yeah that sound like a good idea' I replied. Forty minutes later we where both ready and we had ordered an Uber to the doctors office. Joe hadn't let go of my hand since we had left the apartment and I know that he was worrying about what the doctor had said as well.

Joe's POV

We where currently sat in the doctors office waiting to be called through. I kept a firm hold of Dianne's hand the whole time. We had been sitting there for about five minutes before Dianne's name was called. We both got up and made our way over to the room. We sat down on the chairs next to the doctor and Dianne said 'this is my boyfriend Joe. We where wondering if it would be alright if you could go through my results again. I'm not sure how much of it I took in yesterday and I think Joe had a few questions as well.' 'Yeah that's fine' the doctor replied. He clicked on the computer and bought her results up onto the screen. 'Okay your results came back showing that you have abnormal cells. This could mean lots of different things but we won't know why until we carry out more tests.' 'What are some of the things it could mean' I asked. 'There are many different reasons. It could be an incorrect reading, it could mean that you have some cell changes that we just have to keep an extra eye on. It could also mean that you might have cancer but we would have to do more tests to detect that.' 'What do you think the most likely reason is for Dianne's' I asked. 'We would have to do more tests because they couldn't detect what the abnormal cells where cause from. I suggested to Dianne that we do a colposcopy so that we can have a more in detail look at the abnormal cells. I think that she was in shock but we need to act on it quickly.'

Dianne's POV

I was trying to listen to what the doctor was saying but my brain wont let me focus. The only thing going round my head was cancer. I knew this was the worse result but I couldn't help but think that i would be the unlucky one. I heard the word colposcopy and I lifted my hand up and reached out to Joe. Joe took my hand straight away and turned to look at me. 'Did you hear what the doctor said' he asked. 'Some of it I know I need to have another test done' i replied. 'He wants to schedule you in for it tomorrow is that okay with you.' 'Yeah thats fine' I replied 'will you come with me. 'Of course I will baby' I replied. Joe thanked the doctor and we both got up making our way out of the doctors office. We decided to go home and have a chilled day and try and take our minds of what was happening.

A week later and I got a call from the doctor asking me to come in as the results from the colposcopy had come back. I booked an appointment or an hours time and went over to Joe to tell him. We had both been on edge since I had the test worried about what the results may show. An hour later we where sitting in the waiting room waiting for the doctor to call us through. Five minutes later my name was called and we made our way back into the doctors room. We both took a seat and I immediately took Joe's hand. 'How have you both been' the doctor asked. 'Okay, just worried about what the results may show' I said. 'Okay' he said clicking on his computer. He turned to look at me and said 'good news. The results show that your abnormal cells where from something called HPV. At the moment these cells are low grade so we just need to keep an extra eye on them to make sure they don't change into anything else. We will just do more regular smear tests but for now they are nothing to worry about.' I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding as the doctor said this. The whole time I had been thinking of the worse possible result even through I knew it was very unlikely. I am so glad that it was nothing to worry about. We thanked the doctor and then made our way out of the office hand in hand. We made our way into the Uber and made our way home. The moment we got in Joe wrapped his arms around me. 'I'm so glad your okay. I love you so much' he said. 'I love you too' I replied. 'Please don't every keep anything from me. I don't want you to have to worry about stuff like this by yourself. We are a team and will always be a team. I love you so so much.'
