Kelso's P.O.V.The Coffee Project
Tomas Morato
We do this sometimes. Just decide to go to some random place whether for coffee or what para lang for a change of pace —more like the environment or ambience. It's not naman like there's a shortage of places to go to within the UPD, Katips, and Maginhawa area, but we three can be very picky at times. Lalo na if a class got cancelled and we have some free time.
Taylor: I don't wanna do that Carlos Celdran Old Manila tour thingy —such a cop out.
Brian: We don't really have to record him with us, para lang our task gets easier.
Taylor: Asaan ba ang sense of fun and adventure mo, Brian? Na-iwan mo ba sa Esteban Abada?
They're arguing about the project for Mr. Avedaño's class. Come to think of it, parang it's the only class we've been so worried about this semester. Never mind the other core subjects pero parang it's like Taylor and Brian have been so focused on getting this thing right which is not such a bad thing to concentrate on since it's gonna be worth a written midterm exam.
Brian: All I'm saying is some of these guides, alam na nila yung lugar. They like know the ins and outs pati yung history and the places to go—
Taylor: Nothing na we can't find on Google naman, Bri. Look oh, there's so many extensive blogs and articles na also make it easy for you. Need lang natin to map it out, right Kelso?
Taylor: Ay wow, out of coverage area si Kelso.
Kelso: Sorry, what?
To be totally honest, my mind's been wandering since I woke up this morning. It's a miracle to say that I was able to even match my outfit and drive all the way to campus while being slightly lutang. Last night was something else.
Taylor: This is a group project, remember? Balik-balik din sa dulo ng rainbow pag may time.
If it were any other day, meron agad akong quick quip to what Taylor just said.
Kelso: Sorry, I don't get your reference...
But this wasn't any other day. This, for me, was the morning after.
Brian: Kanina ka pa tulala. But not tulala in a bad way.
Yeah... Tulala is probably a good word to describe it. Not even the strong coffee I ordered has put me back to my senses, to say the least.
Taylor: Come to think of it, Brian's right. "Tulalang may Glow" is more like it.
Wait a minute, where did that come from Bri? Like do I have naturally occurring bioluminescence?
Kelso: May glow? Stop exaggerating, wala. I'm just thinking of stuff that I gotta do.
That's the best excuse I could think of. I mean, I'm a multi-tasker —that's like valid.
Taylor: Hindi eh. This isn't merely an exaggeration, this is a confirmation.
Huwag niyo na kasi ipilit yan, guys.
Kelso: Confirmation ng alin?
I try my best to play down this glow they've been hammering on for while now. I take a sip of my coffee.
Taylor: Something happened na ano?
And I nearly spat my coffee but I was able to stop myself. What's worse is, after stopping myself from spilling the brew from my mouth, sa pagpilit ko to swallow it, I almost choked on the bitter liquid which by some shortness of my breath, muntik na rin lumabas sa ilong ko ang café.
