Chapter Two
Everything Bad Happens On Mondays

---

"Bye mum." I say stepping out of the car. I pull my backpack from the seat and place it on my back.

"I'll pick you up after school. We can go buy you a new diary after school." I nod and close the door. She drives off as I walk to the front step of school.

People were snickering and pointing at me laughing. I ignore them - then I notice something in their hands.

And I see it.

Covering the school name in a big banner is the last page I wrote in my diary.

The page where I wrote my crush. It covers the schools name. So everyone can see it from miles away.

I walk towards the schools newspaper collection. And I knew it was too good for it to be true.

Instead of the newspaper it's my diary. But not the actual thing. Photocopies printed out like a newspaper.

Fuck.

I pics up all the copies and slump my bag to the floor. Stuffing them all in. Making sure every single one is gone.

I push the double door and my jaw drops.

The lockers and walls are filled with posters and photocopied pages of my diary. I try peeling it down but it must have been super-glued to it because I couldn't even bend a corner.

All eyes are on me, I look down at the floor ignoring their faces as I walk past them all to my locker.

There must have been at spotlight or something on me because I felt something wet and burning on my back. It's probably sweat.

I reach my locker to find Alex holding a the newspaper to her chest. She looks beyond pissed. When she sees me she walks up to me her grey eyes burning with fury.

"You bitch!" She says. I furrow my brows. People attention changed to the conflict happening in the middle of the hallway.

"W-what?"

"Don't play dumb with me Melody." She shoves the newspaper at my chest and I stumble a few steps back.

I look down and my eyes widened at the headline.

IS ALEX REALLY A BRAT MELODY SAYS SHE IS?

"Alex. I didn't mean it like that. This was before I actually got to know you. Here look at the date!" I pointed to the picture revealing my book. But of course the person cropped it out.

I looked up at Alex. "It was there! I'll show you. I'll get my book and show it to you!" She scoffed.

"Go to hell Melody." She ripped the paper out of my hands. "Don't even come near me you ungrateful bitch." She punched me in the jaw, not enough to bring me to the floor but enough to cause pain.

She stomps down the hallway shouldering Stella Hartfield in the way.

Stella. Main cheerleader and girlfriend of the most popular boy - and my used-to-be crush - in the school. Conrad Jennings.

"Tsk tsk Meley." She says with her twin 'assistance's' - as I call them - following her with the clicking of their heels touching the floor as they circled around me.

I'm trapped. The girls circle me as I turn on my heels to keep gazes with Stella.

"What did you do?" Courtney. Her assistant says.

"N-nothing." I stutter.

"R-really?" Michelle the other one says mocking my stuttering.

"Your all alone now Mel. Whatcha gonna go about it? We know all your secrets." Stella whispers in my ear. Her long fake eyelashes tickling my side temple.
