One day. 24 hours. One night. One day. Alone. With Conrad. Hell no.

I tap dial on my phone pressing the speakers to my ear. "Hello?"

"Hey Tal. I was wondering if-"

"-HER!" The line cuts off. I look back at my screen and its blank. I sigh throwing it on my bed.

"I shake it off, shake it off!"

I groan picking my phone back up and look at the caller ID.

Kyle. I smile pressing the phone to my ear.

"Did the phone get though?" He says immediately.

"Well hello to you to." I say jokingly.

"Hi love," he chuckles. "Did she pick up."

"No, not yet." I reply sadly.

"Are you sure you want me to come?" He asks again for the hundredth time. I bite my lower lip.

24 hours. Alone. With Conrad. "I don't know Kyle. Would you like to come?"

"Don't mind Mel." He says annoyed at my bickering. I sigh running a hand though my hair. "Look, I'll pick you up in 2 minutes for school. We'll talk about it in the car."

"Okay," I don't bother with a reply. I en the call throwing it back onto my bed. I pick up my bag and sling it over my shoulder walking down the stairs.

"Morning darling," my mother says smiling up at me before looking back at the television.

"Aren't you going to work?" I ask noticing she's in the Pjs still.

"No, it's a public holiday remember? You father and I are staying home then entire day." She says acting like its a big deal.

"Cool." I mumble. I flop down on the couch.

"Aren't you going to school?" She says after a while. "Oh don't tell me your ditching again..."

"Kyle's picking me up, mum." I mumble giving her an eye roll.

"Don't give me attitude Mel, I was just asking." She spits. I shrug and continue to watch the boring news.

"You know, I like Kyle. He reminds me of his dad. Sweet, such a gentleman. And those eyes..." She stares of into the distance, dazed. I groan catching her attention. "Sorry," she mumbles blushing deeply before looking back at the telly.

"I'm not gonna disagree with you. He is amazing and nice." She nods in agreement.

"I'm really happy for you Melody." She reaches over the couch, placing her hand on my knee. She gives it a little squeeze before letting go. "Kyle's a good guy. Don't do anything stupid to ruin it. He not worth losing for something you know won't last." I think she's referring to Conrad but on the other hand I think she overheard me talking to myself as I wrote in my diary last night.

Ding dong!

"I'll get it." She gets up to answer it as I stare at her blankly. Don't do anything stupid. She could be talking about the whole beach trip with Talia. About how Conrad will be there.
