Jellal's POV:
I woke up to the blaring of my alarm clock and stumbled my way into the bathroom. In a few minutes I was dressed up and ready to go to school.
I went to school earlier than usual. The homeroom was empty except for a couple students. I sat on my desk and looked out of the window. I started thinking, 'Gray told me yesterday that I crush on Erza Scarlet... It may be true, but that isn't necessarily good. I need to focus on my studies right now. She is definitely proving to be a distraction.'
'Maybe I can talk with Gray and sort these feelings out... No. I should wait for sometime and let this crush pass. Maybe it won't even matter after a few weeks. Yup. That's what I should do.'
Students started filling up the classroom with every passing minute. It became noisy and I couldn't focus on my thoughts. I looked around my eyes fell on the guy sitting next to me. The same one who pulled me out of my thoughts yesterday.
He was talking to another guy from our class. The other guy left and he turned towards me. He looked at me and smiled. I ignored him and pulled out a book, pretending to read it. I blocked the noise and tried to focus on my thoughts.
'So.. it's better to wait for a few weeks to see if I get over the crush.. But what if I don't? What if it turns... It turns into liking..? And maybe even love.. Don't be so pessimistic Jellal! I need to just wait.. and watch..'
The homeroom teacher entered the classroom and we stood up. We sat down and he started with attendance. 'Ah.. this is such a drag...'
Evening
Erza's POV:
I sat on the couch and streched my arms. We had a lot of homework today and completing it was tiring. I picked up the books scattered on the dining table and went up to my room.
The little desk that I have been studying on was cluttered. I had to keep the books in my hand on the bed and tidy up the desk first. Then, I took the books lying on the bed and put them on the desk in a neat pile.
Ring! Ring!
My phone rang from the other end of the room. I walked over to the head of my bed and picked up my phone. It was Hynhe. I picked up the call.
"Hello Erza!! How are you?'' I instantly recognised the voice. Juliet. I said, "Hello Juliet! I am fine. How are you?''
"I am good too."
"So, why did you call so late?"
"Ah! I called you to tell you that we won't be able to come next week."
"Oh. Why?"
"You see, the case Hynhe was handling recently should have, ideally, been over today. But things got a bit complicated in today's hearing. So, the date has been pushed and Hynhe can't come, leaving her work behind."
"Well, what about you?"
"I thought it would be better if the both of us came together. So, we will come when this case ends, okay?"
"Okay. Please come soon. I miss you both."
"Yes, we will. Don't worry. How's your highschool life going?"
"The usual. It's fun to be with friends.. But sometimes it's tiring. Highschool, I mean."
"Hmm. I know. But don't worry. It's going to be alright. Let's talk more when we come there..."
"Yep."
"Bye, Erza. Take care."
"Bye, Juliet."
I let the phone fall on the bed and went back to studying. I pulled a book open and reluctantly started reading it.
I completed most of the homework before dinner and went back to completing it afterwards. I went to bed after that and fell asleep instantly.
It was one of those frequent nights on which I fell asleep quickly. Other nights, I would remember my mother and cry myself to sleep. Luckily, those nights were not so often.
Jellal's POV:
I sat at my study table, completing homework. My eyes were heavy and my head was numb. I knew what I had to do, but it was taking too long. I put my pen down and streched my limbs.
I got up and went into the kitchen for water. I pulled the fridge door open and pulled out a cold water bottle. I felt refreshed the moment the cool water slided down my parched throat.
I closed the bottle and put it on my face. It felt so nice. I slowly pulled the bottle away and put it back in the fridge. I went back into my bedroom, refreshed.
I looked at the time in my phone. '10:55 p.m. April 25, 2019. Ah, it almost the end of April... So much has happened... It's only one month into the school year and we already have this much homework. Tch..' I picked up my pen and continued writing.
I completed my homework after a while and went to bed. I laid there for a while, with my eyes closed and all my tiredness went away. I didn't fall asleep. I stared at the ceiling with eyes wide open. The first thought that came to my mind was Erza.
'I don't know what to do!! I said I will wait.. and hope that this crush is over soon.. but that doesn't put a halt to my mind wandering to her!' I squeezed my eyes shut and tried to sleep.
Needless to say, that was in vain. I couldn't help thinking about how beautiful she was. How her smile brightened my day. And that she knows of my existence. It felt weirdly nice.
I tossed and turned in the bed for almost the whole night, before falling asleep sometime after 2. Even though I don't remember it cleary, I am sure that I had been dreaming about her that night.
Next morning, I woke up and remembered thinking of something before falling asleep. I, being very out of character at that moment, had thought that thinking about Erza was not a waste of my time or sleep. I shook my head. I couldn't believe my own thoughts.
