"Come on, Petunia!" Lily groaned as her sister headed back inside to change her outfit for the eighth time that day.
"Petunia, that's enough." Ms. Evans said, pulling her eldest daughter towards the car.
"But Mum!" Petunia whined.
"No but's!" Mr. Evans said.
Petunia rolled her eyes and got into the car, glaring daggers at Lily. Lily paid her no mind and climbed past her to the back seat with Maya and Enna. Logan sat next to Petunia again, after promising Lily she would, only this time there was no seat separating them. They were on their way to pick up Vernon Dursley, Petunia's boyfriend before heading to Diagon Alley while the Petunia and Vernon shopped around in the muggle world.
Petunia turned around in her seat to face her sister.
"Don't do anything weird." She threatened.
"Since when am I wired?" Lily shot back.
"Since the day you were born, Lils." Maya said with a goofy grin.
"You don't even know what a toaster is." Petunia frowned at Maya.
"Actually, I didn't know what a "toaster" was. Now I do, thanks to Lily." Maya responded with a smile.
Lily shot her a grateful look.
"Whatever." Petunia said and turned around to face the front.
"Behave girls." Mr. Evans called from the front seat.
"Okay, dad." Lily responded automatically.
"I will if she will." Petunia replied stiffly, causing Lily to frown.
"Petunia." Ms. Evans warned.
Petunia looked out the window. When they reached Vernon's house he came outside and climbed into the car. He looked over at Logan and then back at Maya, Enna and Lily.
"Who are they?" He asked Petunia quite rudely, for they were sitting right next to him and could hear every word they said.
"My sister's friends, don't pay them any mind." Petunia answered quickly.
"Petunia!" Ms. Evans reprimanded.
Petunia pursed her lips and face the front. Logan looked back at Lily who was frowning. Logan wasn't the biggest fan of Petunia Evans, but if she was important to Lily, Logan decided to put in some effort to be kind.
"I'm Logan Moore." She introduced herself to Vernon.
Petunia looked at her, shocked that she was attempting to infect with her boyfriend after she had been so distant.
"Odd name, isn't it?" Vernon said.
Logan blinked, confused.
"And isn't "Logan" a boy's name?"
"Leave her alone, Dursley." Lily said from the backseat.
He attempted to turn and look at her, which was a little hard due to his rather large size.
"Ah, yes, I thought I recognized you there, Lily." He said, as if just realizing who she was, "How's school?"
"Saint Benares is fine." Lily said.
"Yes, But have they been teaching you more about the important stuff, like cooking and cleaning?" He asked, revealing his true motives.
"No." Lily said, rolling her eyes.
"Hmph. Load of rubbish the school is then." Vernon said, "A woman should know her place, not get all mixed up in these crazy ideals."
"Excuse me?" Maya demanded.
Lily's parents were busy arguing over the maps and which way to go to pay any mind to what was occurring in the back of their car. Meanwhile, Vernon narrowed his eyes at Maya.
"Don't tell me you're one of those advocates for women."
"I'm an advocate for equality."
"Hmph, that explains the ragged hair cut and poor choice of clothing then?"
Lily was glaring at Vernon. Before Maya could respond, he suddenly found his facial features morphing. A large orange toucan beak sprouted onto his face. He squawked in surprise and Petunia screamed.
"LILY!!!!"
Mr. Evans swerved on the road and Ms. Evans spun around.
"LILY?!" She exclaimed in shock, staring at Vernon before turning back to her husband, "Pull over, pull over!"
He did so and hurried over to open the the door next to Vernon who promptly unbuckled and fell out of the vehicle. Petunia clambered our after him and Lily climbed out of the back. Logan, Enna and Maya just sat in the car in shock.
"Lily, you said you wouldn't!" Petunia yelled.
"I didn't mean to!" Lily protested.
"Lily, please turn him back." Mr. Evans sighed.
"I'm trying!"
Lily closed her eyes and tried to concentrate, which was difficult with Vernon's loud squawking as he flailed around.
"Lily!" Petunia screeched.
"Let me concentrate!" Lily shot back, screwing up her face.
There was a soft popping noise and Vernon was, unfortunately, back to normal.
"There." Lily said.
"You promised you wouldn't." Petunia groaned, checking over her boyfriend to see if he was okay.
"He was being rude to my friends!" Lily said, "and did you think I really wanted to do magic in front of him? He's a muggle, I'm not allowed!"
"I-SHE-YOU-WHAT?" Vernon stuttered.
Petunia looked over at Lily.
"Can you make him forget?" She pleaded
"Not without my wand, and using magic outside of school is illegal." Lily sighed.
Petunia glared at her before turning to Vernon.
"Vernon, there's something I need to tell you." She said slowly.
After the explanation of Lily's magical abilities and countless reassurance that she wouldn't turn him into a bird again, Vernon finally agreed to get back into the car. The rest of the car ride was silent, with Vernon glancing at the four witches and muttering things about "devils" under his breath.
When they finally dropped off Petunia and Vernon and entered the Leaky Cauldron, Logan finally found the words to speak.
"Well, that was something." She said.
"I really didn't mean to." Lily told them while her parents marveled over the magic in the entrance to Diagon Alley.
"I wouldn't blame you if you did." Maya said, "He's awful."
Lily gave her a nod in thanks and then stepped forward to assist her parents.
"No, mum, it's like this." Lily said, tapping on the bricks in the correct sequence.
Even though her parents had been taking her shopping for her school things for the past seven years, they still couldn't remember how to enter the magical alleyway. When they entered Diagon Alley, the girls split up from Lily's parents, promising them that they would meet up with them later.
