Logan turned around to see what had spooked her friend off. She saw the Marauders walking towards her. James and Sirius looked awfully proud of themselves while Remus looked sheepish and Peter looked worried. She put her hands on her hips as they approached her and the happy looks faded off of their faces.
"Um..." Sirius began, "What's up?"
"Are you guys still bothering Severus?" Logan asked.
"Well, you see..." James began.
"Why can't you just leave him alone?!" She demanded, shaking her head.
"Because it's Sniv- er- Snape." James tried to explain.
"You could at least try to be civil!" Logan said.
"We know that you don't want to hear this-" Sirius began before Peter cut him off.
"Sirius!" He whispered urgently.
"-but that by is up to no good! Just look at the kind of people he hangs around!"
"One of those people happen to be your little brother!" She reminded him.
"Exactly!" He exclaimed, "Reg- my brother and his "friends" are wannabe-"
"Sirius!" Peter warned.
"-Death Eaters!"
There was a silence.
"Uh oh." Peter whispered to Remus.
"Sirius Orion Black you have no right to accuse your own brother of such atrocious acts!"
"Brother? James is more of a brother to me than Regulas ever was or will ever be!"
"So what?! You're going to denounce him as your family?"
"Family?! My family hates me!"
"At least you have one." Logan said quietly.
Tears stung at her eyes.
"Oh come on, Logan, you know that I'm a doofus. I didn't mean to hurt you." Sirius said.
Logan didn't respond.
"Logan?"
She fiddled with her necklace, not meeting his gaze.
"Lo? ...Logan? ...Birdie?" He tried.
"Okay." she said, "I understand that your brother is not the kindest to you... nor is the rest of your family. And I honestly don't know what's worse... having no family or having a family that-that..."
"Despises your entire being?" Sirius offered.
"Well, I suppose so, yes."
"Come here, Birdie!" He exclaimed, embracing the girl.
