After staying out in the hall for a while, they returned to Sirius' room to find Maya and Sirius actually holding a conversation.
"Hey." Logan greeted them.
"Oh, hi." Maya smiled.
"Nice flowers." Peter said, pointing to the bouquet.
Sirius' face lit up. He grinned and bounced up to a sitting position.
"I know, right?!" He exclaimed, "Normally guys only get flowers when they die, but look! Flowers! And see! I'm not dead!"
Logan stifled a laugh at that.
"Right then." Remus said.
"So, has anyone heard from James and Lily?" Sirius asked, feigning a casual persona.
Logan wasn't so easily fooled.
"No, I left my phone back at the apartment." She said.
"Same." Remus said.
"I brought mine." Peter said.
"Has he called?" Sirius asked.
Peter reaches into his pocket and pulled out his phone. He squinted at it for a second before shaking his head.
"Sorry, no."
Sirius looked very disappointed.
"His best mate is in the hospital, and he doesn't even call?" He asked, frowning.
"He's on his honeymoon, Padfoot, he most likely hasn't even got the message yet."
"Yeah..." Peter agreed, "Wait, what message?"
Remus turned to look at the smaller boy.
"The message you were supposed to send to James and Lily to inform them that Sirius is in the hospital." Remus said slowly.
"...oh."
"You didn't send it?!" Sirius demanded.
"What?! Psh, no, of course I sent it!" Peter said, backing up towards the door, "I'm just gonna go to... the bathroom... bye!"
He bolted from the room, phone in hand. Sirius shook his head.
"I can't believe he forgot." He mumbled.
"Well, at least James isn't ignoring you." Maya offered.
"Well, I knew he'd respond eventually. We've been talking everyday." Sirius admitted.
"Everyday?" Logan asked.
"Um, yeah..."
"But Lily said that number was only for emergencies." Remus said, "And you insisted that we call it today because you're in the hospital."
"Oh... right... about that-"
"Has James just been accepting your calls everyday?" Logan asked, "And Lily isn't upset?"
