Life was hard

Life was hard. She had always known that, but she never knew it was this hard. After laying next to Remus, staring up at the sky for what seemed like hours, he tried to pull her back inside. Logan didn't want to go. She didn't want to go back to the castle that seemed to whisper names of students no longer attending. Students that would never even get the chance to graduate.

Enna was going to be a nurse. Enna. A girl who had struggled with her own image for so long, a girl who surly deserved to be selfish once in a while, because she was always so selfless. Enna. Enna who wanted to help others to make the world a better place. Enna who saw destruction and brought about hope. And she wanted to heal others. And now she would never get the chance.

"Come on, Lo, it's getting cold." Remus said softly.

She shook her head.

"Please, Birdie." He begged, "It's going to get dark soon and- and we've got to get inside."

Her stare was blank. Her face void of emotion. How could one feel so many things that they appeared to feel nothing? Remus tried to gently get her to stand. Logan realized it would be easier to just go inside with him, but she didn't want to see the other students. She didn't want to see the fear in their eyes.

"They're scared, Remus." She whispered.

He froze.

"Who?"

She didn't answer right away.

"Who? Who's scared?" Remus asked again.

"Everyone. They're all scared... of me." Logan said.

"No-"

"I saw it. The fear in their eyes."

"Logan, Ursula is the one who came to get me. She told me she was worried for you because you didn't seem like yourself." Remus explained.

"Myself? How could I possibly go back to being the person I was when so much has changed?" She asked.

"I know." He hugged her tightly as if he was afraid she would slip away into the nothingness.

She was scared too, so she hugged back.

"Let's go inside." Remus said, "We can get you warmed up."

"N-no." Logan protested weakly.

"Please?" He asked.

"I-I don't want to go back to our room." She said.

He knew what she meant. The dorm room she shared with Enna was too full of memories.

"You don't have to." Remus reassured her, "Not now."

"Okay." She reluctantly agreed, and allowed him to pull her back inside.

This time, her legs weren't as shaky. She blindly followed Remus, leaning on him for support and letting him guide her. He lead her up the stairs and she stopped walking.
