Chapter 17

Pulling another cigarette out of the pack he has just bought, Jax lights it up and takes a drag. He's chain smoking, it's what he does when he's stressed.

The entire SAMCRO and Gemma is in the waiting room but Jax wants to be left alone. He doesn't know what he'd do if something has to happen to Corrie. He'd be lost without her. He finally found himself again when she came from college, he'd drown in pussy and violence if she dies.

He has picked up on how to be a dad to Abel from watching her be a mom. The way Abel looks at her, and the way she looks at him, Wendy would never have been that kind of mom. Corrie looks at Abel as though he's her everything. He's getting bigger, and older now, soon he'll be able to talk and then Jax will really need her.

"Hey brother, docs here with updates" Happy mutters as he rounds the corner. Jax nods and stubs out the cigarette. He's back in the waiting room in a flash.

"Jackson" the doctor sighs as he spots the biker

"How is she?" he asks, in the corner of his eye he sees Opie and Gemma stand up as well. Corrie's thing happened before Opie could really register that his father is dead, but Jax knows that as soon as she's fine he'll want answers and blood.

"Corrine suffered massive trauma with the beating. She'll need surgery to repair the damage brought on by what is likely to be a ring the attacker wore; I had to do a CAT scan, it seems Corrine developed what we call epidural hematoma, it's not at all serious if treated right." The neurosurgeon on Corrie's case says, she gets silent and waits for the general surgeon to talk.

"The bullet caused major ruptures in Corrie's abdomen. I had to take out her spleen, which she can live without, and I had to repair a damaged kidney. She would have most likely bled out if you have gotten there a minute later. Corrie's in stable condition"

"But?" Gemma asks bluntly and for once Jax is thankful for his rude mother.

"But" The doctor sighs, he looks distressed, "I'm so sorry Jackson, she had a miscarriage. She lost the baby"

The guys all gasp, none of them knew that Corrie was pregnant except for Clay and Gemma. Clay has not said a word; he didn't want this to happen to the young blonde. All Romeo had to do was scare her, not try to kill her and her baby. He knows Jax and Opie will be looking for revenge; he's going to lose his gavel and most likely his cut.

Jax stumbles back and loses his footing from the shock and sadness, Tig holds him up as the blonde VP cries, he doesn't give a shit that his brothers are there to see him vulnerable and sad. Corrie losing the baby; Galindo; Juice; Piney's death – everything is getting out of control and it's his fault. He should have never voted drugs in. He should have called for an officer vote as soon as he found out about the drugs. This is his fault, it's all his fault.
