Corrie spends the rest of the day in Abel's hospital room. Her eyes are bloodshot; her head is killing her yet she can't move from her spot.

Jax is as unsympathetic as ever. He has no reason to be such a little bitch to her. All she asked for was for him to heal from Opie's death – she can't help him heal. Lord knows she'll support him every step of the fucking way while he heals but of course he took it as she wants nothing to do with him and now he's throwing tantrum after tantrum like a child.

Corrie is pretty sure a child is more mature than he is at this moment.

"Mama" She looks up as soon as she hears her baby's voice. Corrie beams in relief, "Oh my baby boy. I'm here, mama's here"

"I okay mama?"

Corrie sobs and kisses him on the forehead and then the cheek. "You're fine baby. Mama will buy you anything you want, I'm so happy you're okay baby"

"Can I get ice cream?" he asks so innocently, it melts Corrie's heart that he stays so happy despite just being in a car accident.

She laughs through her tears, "Of course you can have ice cream."

Abel smiles, "Where's daddy?"

Corrie gives her son a kiss on his head, "I'll get him quickly. I'll be right back okay?"

Upon Abel's slight nod she walks out of the hospital room and finds Jax sitting alone in the waiting room with his head buried in his hands.

"Jax" She calls, startling him. He looks up and she notices the red-brimmed eyes. She sighs, "Abe's awake"

She turns to walk back into the room when he stops her, he opens his mouth to say something but stops with a sigh and a frustrated shake of the head. "I'm going to confront Gemma later, want to come with me?"

"I want nothing to do with her" Corrie snaps and walks back into Abel's room.

Jax follows behind her, trailing like a lost puppy as he pinches his nose in anger. Why can't he just tell her how sorry he is? Why must he always ruin shit with his damn ego?"

Corrie makes a beeline for Abel, she sits down on the chair while Jax hovers over his son. "Hey buddy, how do you feel?"

"I okay daddy. Gramma was acting very funny, she was moving the car a lot."

Corrie looks up to Jax as he ponders over his son's words, "What do you mean bud?"

"She smell funny – stinky and she was whispering stuff"

"Daddy will talk to grandma about it alright?" He tells Abel. "Don't worry about it. All you have to do is rest so your bruises will heal"

"Okay" Abel smiles. Jax kisses him softly and holds out his hand for a crying Corrie to take. She hesitates but eventually puts her hand in his grasp.

"Things will be okay" He whispers to her. "I promise"

"I really hope so"

**

Jax snarls at the woman on the hospital bed. She's sitting up, bitching to the nurse. He waits for the young nurse to leave before he stalks over to Gemma who looks visibly shaken.

"How's Abel?" She asks breaking the uncomfortable silence

"My son is alright"

Gemma nods and gulps, "I'm glad"

Jax scoffs, "How do you feel? Luckily for you alcohol really numbs the pain"

Gemma sighs, "I wasn't drunk"

"Bullshit. You drove drunk with my kid in the car. I hope you know you're never seeing him again"

Gemma stands up in fury, "You can't keep me from my grandson, Jax, please."

Jax opens his mouth to say something when the door barges open revealing a furious Corrie. She wordlessly storms up to Gemma and slaps the older woman. Gemma falls down on the bed, clearly not expecting it. Jax has to keep the smirk off his face. His girl has a nice right hook.

"I trusted you with my kid, and you betrayed me. You're dead to me, and to my son. Stay the hell away from my family."

She doesn't spare a second glance to Jax or Gemma as she storms back to Abel's room. Jax follows after her, calling her name. He gently grabs her arm to stop her.

"Are you okay? Must I take you home to rest?" He asks

"I'm fine" She says curtly and walks back into Abel's room. Jax runs a hand through his slicked back hair.

Why the fuck can't he stop screwing up?
