Mean's POV

I would never have been able to predict that the lyrics of "Dekat Di Hati" would hit me hard.

I had been doing my best to get over  Nanon, but why did so many things come up to remind me of him?

I apologized silently to the other two guys because I could no longer continue listening to the song and I had to stand up and walk away so that I could cry in private.

I hadn't taken more than a few steps away when Chimmon tapped me on my shoulder saying, "Hey, are you okay?"

I blindly turned to him and sobbed against his shoulder.

I felt him holding me tight.

His arms felt so comforting. I wanted to stay in his arms forever.

Wait, what was I thinking.

I broke our embrace.

"Thank you for your emotional support," I said, quickly wiping away the tears from my eyes.

"It was nothing," Chimmon replied, "Whenever you need a shoulder to cry on, just give me a call. I will always be available."

"I don't even have your number," I said with a sad smile.

He handed me his phone.

"Key in your number and I will call you," he said.

I did so and soon after, he gave me a call, registering his number on my phone.

"Hey, both of you, what's going on there!" we heard Plan calling from the bench.

"We were just exchanging numbers," I explained.

"That's not fair," Plan complained to me, "you have not yet even given me your number and I had met you first."

"Oh sorry," I said, walking back to him and handing him my phone.

He keyed in his number and I called him.

Then he handed his phone to Chimmon.

"Can I have your number as well?" he asked Chimmon.

Chimmon then keyed in his number on Plan's phone and handed it back to him.

In a few seconds Chimmon's phone started to ring.

"Well," said Plan with a satisfied smile, "I guess we all can contact each other any old time!"

"Yes we can!" I agreed.

"That's right!" Chimmon agreed as well.

"If you all don't mind, I am going back to my cabin," I said.

I didn't want to say that I wanted to be alone with my thoughts for a while.

"Can we have lunch together later?" Chimmon asked me.

"Sure," I replied.

I didn't mind spending more time with Chimmon. There was something about him that attracted me. I just couldn't put my finger on it yet.

Pluem's POV

I felt my stomach grumbling.

I looked at my watch. It was half past eleven. No wonder my stomach was already complaining. It was lunchtime.

I headed down to the dining hall.

The white board on a wooden stand that stood right outside the dining hall announced: Lunch Special: Pesto Pasta with Sun Dried Tomatoes and Roasted Asparagus

Just reading the lunch special made my stomach grumble more loudly.

I rushed inside the hall and grabbed a tray and utensils and went straight for the sous chef who was handing out the lunch special to the customers in line.

I then went over to the beverage counter and poured myself a tall glass of cranberry juice.

I walked over to the area where the tables were and stopped in my tracks.

Chimmon and a guy I didn't recognize were seated at one of the tables.

They were eating their lunch and at the same time were engaged in what looked to me like a very interesting conversation.

I felt some kind of resentment that Chimmon had not seemed interested in talking to me during breakfast, even when I tried to engage him in conversation, and now he was talking to this other guy like they were best friends.

Hmmmph......

I quickly walked towards their table.

"Hi!" I said with my brightest smile to Chimmon, "well, look who's here!"

Chimmon didn't look happy. He didn't return my smile. What the hell.

"Can I join your table?" I asked after a brief pause, when I noticed that neither Chimmon nor the other guy were inviting me to join them.

"Sure," said Chimmon, but his voice didn't sound sincere.

"Of course," the other guy also answered, but his voice didn't sound sincere as well.

I was starting to feel unwanted but I decided to tough it out.

"Thank you guys," I said, setting my tray down.

Since Chimmon was not making any moves to introduce his companion to me, I held out my hand to his companion.

"Hi, my name is Pluem," I said to him.

He took my hand and politely said, "Nice to meet you, Pluem, my name is Mean."

"Nice to meet you too, Mean," I said, "so how did you two meet?"

Chimmon refused to answer and just kept eating from his bowl.

It was Mean who answered.

"He happened to walk in on me and a friend while we were listening to some music out there in the open deck."

"What music were you listening to?" I asked, out of plain curiosity.

Chimmon spoke up this time.

"I don't think you would know the song," he replied.

"Try me anyway," I offered.

"Dekat Di Hati," he replied.

"You got me there," I conceded, "what language is that?"

"Indonesian," it was Mean who answered.

"And are you an Indonesian?" I asked Mean.

"No, I'm Thai," he replied, "hey, you wanna join us after lunch to watch a movie?"

I couldn't decide what to answer because I noticed Chimmon glaring at Mean like he was ready to kill him for asking me.
