Bas' POV

I gave a grateful smile to P'White as I accepted the wrapped biscuit. We had no time to stop and chat as there was a long line behind me.

I went over to sit on a grassy spot. It was wet, of course, because of the rain, which thankfully was starting to slow down to a drizzle.

For once in my life I did not wake up hungry, maybe because of the disaster that I had just gone through and the uncertainty of ever seeing P'Godt again.

I had gone searching for him for a long time and would have continued searching but a generalized pain and fatigue had taken over my body.

I slowly unwrapped the biscuit and was just about to bring it to my mouth when a familiar person passed by me, chewing on his biscuit.

"Hey!" I called out.

He looked in my direction and I could tell from the look on his face that he had recognized me as well.

Although our last meeting had not been under pleasant circumstances, I could tell that he was relieved upon seeing a familiar face himself.

"Hi," he said tentatively as he approached me and then sat down beside me.

"We are both very lucky to be alive," he said.

Then on impulse I moved close to him and hugged him tight.

"I'm very grateful of course, that I am still alive" I replied, not letting go of him, feeling the need to be comforted after a harrowing night of fighting with the elements just to survive.

"We never got the chance to introduce ourselves formally to each other" he said after I finally let go of him.

I held out my hand to him saying, "My name is Bas."

"And I'm Joss," he said, taking my hand.

He had a firm grip. I could tell he was a strong person. He was definitely muscular and well built.

"Have you come across your boyfriend yet?" he asked.

I knew that he was referring to P'Godt.

I let out a heavy sigh before saying, "If I had, he would be the one sitting beside me right now."

He nodded and did not speak for some time. He continued to chew on his biscuit so I decided to do the same.

Suddenly we heard someone's voice booming through a megaphone.

"We need all able bodied persons to please come forward and help us to achieve two important tasks. Both tasks will be physical and will need strong muscles. If you think you can help out, please come forward."
