Third Person POV

Since Chani had turned down the idea of him and Foei going to the dance area, they both just sat at their table slowly sipping their drinks and listening to the music and watching the other couples sway to the music.

Foei had finished his drink while Chani was only halfway through his.

"I'm gonna get myself another drink," he announced to Chani, "would you like another one?"

"No, I'm good, thanks," Chani replied.

Chani watched as another couple stood up from the adjacent table and made their way to the dance area.

Chani sucked in his breath when he happened to see the face of the woman being led to the dance area. She was the spitting image of his girlfriend, or ex-girlfriend, as the case may be.

He felt a spasm of pain run through his chest as he remembered getting the news from a friend that he had seen her with another guy going into a bar a week before Chani had decided to go on this cruise.

He wondered where she was right now. She had stopped communicating with him.

"Don't dwell too much on it," Chani was startled by Foei's voice. He had not noticed Foei coming back with his drink. Was Foei psychic or was he just very observant?

Foei sat down beside Chani. Chani automatically moved a little bit away to give him space because he had sat too close.

"Hey, are you homophobic?" Foei asked him.

"Of course not!" Chani protested.

"Okay, sorry, I thought you were because you quickly moved away when my shoulder touched yours," Foei observed.

"Oh no, no, no," again Chani protested, "I was just giving you your space."

"Okay," Foei said with a smile, but he could not help thinking that Chani was repulsed by any physical contact from him.

Chani watched as the couple from the adjacent table started holding each other close and swaying to the soft music.

Suddenly Chani grabbed Foei's wrist.

"Let's go," he said to Foei.

"What?!" Foei protested, "but I haven't even touched my drink yet."

"You can come back to it later, let's go," Chani was already on his feet, pulling at Foei's wrist.

"Wh..where are we going?" Foei asked wide eyed. He had assumed that Chani had wanted to leave the bar already.

"I thought you wanted to dance," Chani remarked with a raised eyebrow.

"Oh!" was all Foei could say as he let Chani lead him to the dance floor.

Foei could not believe what was happening. He could not believe his sudden stroke of good luck. He wondered what made Chani change his mind.

He didn't care to wonder any more. He just told himself to savor the moment of holding Chani close, their chests touching from time to time as Chani put his arms around Foei's neck and Foei wrapped his arms around Chani's waist and they swayed in rhythm to the music.

Foei felt his breathing grow heavy as he felt himself getting turned on by Chani's physical closeness.

Then suddenly he noticed that Chani's gaze was fixed somewhere.

He followed Chani's stare. It was fixed on a couple dancing just a few feet away from them. He was especially focused on the woman who had her arms around her male partner.

"Does she look like your girlfriend?" Foei asked him.

Chani gasped.

"Tell me the truth, Foei, do you have psychic abilities?"

"No," Foei replied, "I was just observing you closely."

Chani sighed.

"Yes, she does look like my ex-girlfriend," he admitted to Foei.

"Wait, did you say ex-girlfriend?" Foei wanted to clarify.

"I believe that I should start considering her as such, seeing as how she has stopped communicating with me and has been seen with someone else in public," Chani replied.

"Well, if you want to forget her, I suggest that you stop staring at her look-alike," Foei remarked, placing his hand against Chani's cheek and pushing his face gently the other way.

Chani laughed softly.

"I guess you're right," he said, moving a little more closely to Foei.

When Foei felt Chani's chest touch his, he moved away slightly. He scolded himself for letting Chani's closeness affect him. He knew that Chani was still in love with his girlfriend and that falling for him was bound to cause him heartache.

"Let's go back to our table," Foei said, "I would like to finish my drink."

"But the band has just started to play another nice slow music," Chani protested.

"Hey, if you wanna stay in this dance floor to gaze longingly at your girlfriend's look-a-like, feel free to do so," Foei said, already making his way back to their table.

"I told you she's my ex," Chani muttered under his breath as he followed Foei back to their table.

Foei finished his drink in one gulp and stood up.

"I'm gonna get myself another drink," he said.

Chani stood up as well and grabbed his wrist, leading him to the exit.

"You're not getting another drink," Chani said, "I don't want you passing out on me."

Chani led Foei to the foyer and pressed the service button for an elevator.

When the elevator arrived and they walked inside, Foei turned to Chani.

"Wh... what do you want me to do then?" he asked.

Chani could see that Foei was already a little buzzed.

"I want you to hydrate yourself and wash the alcohol out of your system," Chani replied.

"We should have bought water from the vending machine before we got into the elevator," said Foei.

"No need," Chani replied, "I got several bottles of water in my cabin."

Even though Foei's brain was a little fuzzy, the idea of being in Chani's cabin gave him mixed emotions of nervousness and excitement.

But then he reminded himself that Chani was just trying to be a friend.

He waited as Chani turned the key on his door and pushed it open.

Chani stepped aside and waited for Foei to go in first.

When Foei just stood there, Chani made a sweep of his hand to motion Foei to go in.

"No, that's fine," said Foei, "I'll wait here until you bring out your water."

"Don't be silly," Chani said with a laugh, "come and sit and make yourself comfortable while drinking the water."

When Foei continued to just stand by the door, Chani grabbed his wrist and pulled him inside and closed the cabin door.
