Gunnapat's POV
I was awakened from my afternoon nap by the insistent ringing of my phone. I scooted to the edge of the bed and picked up my phone from my bedside table.
Oh shit, it was Mark. I thought he had said that he was going to wait for my call. Why couldn't he wait for me to call him.
I glanced at the time on my phone. It was ten minutes to six in the evening. The dining hall doors were going to open in ten minutes. Damn, I had taken a really long nap. I must have been exhausted physically and mentally before my nap. This persistent guy Mark was going after me too aggressively and I was somehow finding it hard to keep him away. It was totally stressing me out.
I let the call go to voicemail. Dammit, I noticed that it was the sixth missed call. Just what was his problem.
In less than a second my phone was ringing again.
I swiped the screen angrily.
"I'm not having dinner with you! I have changed my mind!" I yelled on the phone.
"Gun?"
Oh shit, it wasn't Mark.
I looked at the screen again to check who the caller was.
"P'Godt!"
Never was I so happy and relieved to hear P'Godt's voice.
"How are you doing, Gun?" his voice sounded a bit distant and nasal. Was he having the common cold?
"I'm alright, P'Godt," I replied.
"How's your sprained ankle? Has it healed?" he wanted to know.
"It's almost healed," I informed him, "the nurse said that it should be completely healed by tomorrow."
"Do you need help to get to the dining hall this evening?" P'Godt asked.
My mind immediately flew to Mark. Mark had offered to assist me to the dining hall but I badly wanted to have dinner with P'Godt. At the same time I was worried that Mark would make a big scene in the dining hall if he found me having dinner with someone else other than him.
I wondered whether Mark would be agreeable with a threesome for dinner. That way I wouldn't feel too intimidated by Mark. P'Godt's presence would neutralize Mark's emotional stress on me somehow.
"Uhmmm... I believe I can make it to the dining room by myself," I said with some hesitation.
"Are you sure?" I could hear the concern in P'Godt's voice, "you might want to rest your ankle by using me as a crutch. That way you won't have to put your weight on your bad foot."
"That... that seems like a good idea, P'Godt, if it's not gonna be too much trouble on you," I replied tentatively.
"It's no trouble at all," P'God said in a firm voice, "shall I proceed to your cabin right now to pick you up?"
"Give me fifteen minutes to get ready," I said, already heading to the bathroom to freshen up.
"Sure," P'Godt said before cutting the call.
In exactly fifteen minutes, I heard a knock on my door. I took a quick glance at myself in the narrow full length mirror that doubled as the door of my closet before walking over to open my cabin door.
P'Godt was standing outside my door, smiling at me. His handsome face and radiant smile floored me totally. I knew that I was falling for him.

"Ready?" he asked holding out his hand to me.
"Yes, P'Godt," I replied shyly.
I felt him put his arm around my waist.
"Put your arm around my shoulder and shift your weight on me while walking on your good foot," he instructed.
I did as I was told and soon we were in the foyer waiting for an elevator to take us down to the dining hall.
The main course for the evening was Brown Butternut Squash Pasta topped with French style bread crumbs and garnished with Parmesan and parsley.
P'Godt helped me to sit comfortably at a table of his choice and told me to wait there while he gathered our dinner into one tray.
After he set down our plates on the table, he said he was going to get our drinks from the beverage counter.
"I'd like a tall glass of strawberry lemonade mix, please," I requested.
"Of course," he said as he made his way to the beverage section of the dining hall.
In no time he was back carrying two tall glasses of strawberry lemonade, the ice cubes clinking against the side of the glasses.
"This dish looks yummy," I remarked as I twirled a few spaghetti noodles around my fork.
"It sure does," P'Godt replied as he pierced a square piece of butternut squash with his fork and raised it to his mouth.
"Mmmmm... mmmmm," he was saying when, without warning, someone grabbed him by the arm making him drop his fork with a big clang on his plate.
"Huhhh!?!" I had no chance to look at the face of the young man who had grabbed P'Godt because suddenly I found myself being lifted by someone from my chair and being carried to another table.
Shit, it was Mark! His face was dark red with silent anger.
He set me down on a chair and then sat down on the chair facing me.
When he fixed his eyes on me I felt like he was boring into my very soul.
I waited nervously until he started to speak.
"Why couldn't you be honest with me?" his voice was quivering in a mixture of hurt and anger, "why didn't you tell me that you are still with that jerk of a pedophile?"
"Mark!" I found my voice, "stop calling him him a pedophile! He's not much older than I am and I am not a minor!"
"That's not the main issue," he hissed at me, "why couldn't you be honest and tell me that you are not a free agent?"
"I am a free agent!" I protested. Oh, wait, shit, I shouldn't have told him that, but it was too late, I had blurted it out, so all I could say next was, "If he had been my boyfriend, he would have come after me by now, but instead he has allowed that young man to take him away from me!"
My voice had started to quiver and to my great horror and dismay, a few tears trickled down my cheeks.
Mark studied my face intently for some time.
"You are hurting," he remarked, but he seemed to be talking more to himself than to me, "you are hurting because...... because you love him and you want to be with him instead of with me. I get it. I get it, Gun. Here, let me help you back to your table and let's hope that he comes back to join you and finish the rest of his dinner with you."
"No! No, Mark! Please don't leave me! Please stay and have dinner with me!"
Mark stared long and hard at me once more, looking undecided. I held my breath as I waited for him to make a decision.
Then suddenly he let out a heavy sigh.
"Wait here," he said, "I'm gonna go and get my own plate."
I sank back gratefully in my chair and with a feeling of great relief. I took in a deep breath to make up for holding it in for what seemed to me a very long time.
