"Hi," Mew and Art said to each other at the same time.
AJ stared at Mew intently. AJ remembered him. He was the guy in the island over whom Art had burst into tears but Art had never explained to AJ why. Today AJ was going to find out why. He just needed to listen to their conversation carefully.
"I'm happy to see that you made it out of the island alive and well," Mew said after a brief awkward pause.
"How did you even know that I was on the island?" Art wanted to know.
"I knew, even while you were on the cruise ship," Mew replied, "I just watched you from afar."
"Why didn't you approach me?" Art asked in a sad tone.
"I wasn't sure how you would react," Mew replied.
"In the beginning I would have been a bit hostile," Art admitted.
"And now?" Mew prompted.
"I'm afraid I... I'm afraid that I..."
Mew suddenly became aware of AJ's presence. He was the guy against whose chest Art had been placing the burgundy shirt when Mew had stumbled upon them. In fact Art was still holding the shirt in his hand.
AJ sprung into action.
"Hi, I'm AJ, I'm Art's boyfriend."
Mew took AJ's outstretched hand and shook it lightly.
"I'm pleased to meet you, AJ," said Mew in a voice that was barely above a whisper.
Art's eyes were focused on the floor of the shop while the interaction between Mew and AJ were taking place.
"Well... Art...," Mew placed a hand heavily on Art's shoulder, "I wish you all the best for your future. I hope you will be happy always."
"I will make sure of that," AJ interrupted before Art could make any response to Mew.
