Mike's POV

Although I was nervous about approaching the guy to ask him if he could share his table with me and the other two guys whom I had convinced not to get into a fistfight, I squared my shoulders and reminded myself what some famous person had said, "Ask and you shall receive."

So in the warmest, friendliest, brightest tone that I could manage, I approached the guy and said, "Hi! How are you doing this morning?"

My spirit was dampened when he replied with just one word, "Blah" accompanied by a very bored tone and a bored expression on his face.

Well, I wasn't about to get myself discouraged by it.

"If you let us share your table, my companions and myself will try to brighten your morning!" I tried to continue to keep my voice as bright and friendly as possible.

He just shrugged his shoulders in response.

My companions and I took it to mean that he did not object to us sharing his table.

I motioned the other two to take a seat each while I took the other one right beside the owner of the table.

I extended my hand to him.

"Hi, I'm Mike," I said with a smile.

He took a sip from his cup of coffee first before taking my hand.

"Nice to meet you, Mike," he said, "my name is Joss."

Hmmm, nice name, I thought.

I tried not to stare at his well sculpted body. I tried not to get distracted by his bulging deltoids and his firm barrel chest that were straining against the fabric of his thin white t-shirt.

He looked at the other two guys and they promptly took the cue.

Chimmon first introduced himself, followed by Pluem. He shook their hands one at a time.

Joss made no effort to engage us in conversation.

I tried my best to draw him out but he did not respond much. He seemed to be distracted by his own thoughts as he continued to sip his coffee and dip his plain toast into the middle yellow part of his sunny side up and biting into it.

Right after he finished his breakfast, Joss excused himself, leaving me and Chimmon and Pluem to finish our breakfast.

We went separate ways after we finished our breakfast.

"You're going to be good friends from now on, right?" I asked both of them, to make sure that my efforts at peacemaking between the two of them was not going to be in vain.
