Things got worse. So much worse. I managed to catch an infection, not sure how, but I did. A pretty serious infection too. Day before the concert and I’m hooked up to a machine helping me breathe. I was weaker than before. Everything took too much effort; breathing, blinking, thinking. Not for the first time I wanted everything to end.
Shawn knew that missing the concert would kill me, but there was nothing he could do. It was my Mum’s last gift to me and I couldn’t go. Literally couldn’t. The Doctor said if I left the hospital my chance of survival drops significantly, he said things would get worse and they think I would probably die because of it. But it hurt. I was letting my family down, letting my Mum down.
“Hey, I can make it up to you! New tickets, or something.” Shawn pleaded, seeing how upset I was.
“It was her last gift to me Shawn.” I sighed sadly.
“Come on, she would understand. You getting better would be the most important thing. Okay, stay strong.” He was right, as usual. But I didn’t want him to be.
“Just fuck off Shawn!” I snapped. I didn’t mean too, his face was full of hurt as he walked out. I had started coughing too, painful. Tears rolled down my cheeks. I fuck everything up don’t I? I knew this was the beginning of a mental downwards spiral. But I couldn’t fight it. No matter how hard I try.
DANNY’S POV
My phone started buzzing away again, I groaned as I reached for it. Couldn’t they leave me alone? 10 missed calls and hundreds of messages, all from our manager. He called again, this time I answered.
“Finally.” He sighed, obviously irritated.
“What do you want? I’m sleeping.” I complained, it was way too early for this crap.
“Read you emails.” He ordered.
“Really. You called because I’m not reading my emails.”
“Just do it Danny.” He wouldn’t go away till I read the damn thing, so I opened up the email I’m assuming he meant. It was marked urgent. I read through, reading everything that was there and realised why this was so important. The thing was devastating.
“I’ll tell the boys. We’ll do it.” I stuttered into the phone. How this happened I don’t know, it was unbelievable. “Boys!” I shouted, Mark and Glen wandered in not long after. “We are going on a little trip.” I showed them my laptop, with the email open, giving them time to read it.
“Shit.” Mark sighed. That pretty much sums this up, everything about this really.
“Dear God. That’s heart-breaking.” Glen added, also true.
“We should start packing up then. That was our last show for a while anyways.” With that we went our separate ways, packing stuff up as quickly as possible. We have a job to do.
A/N - So finally the boys are in the story :D Anything in italic from now on is from Danny's point of view :) Also, gunna post two chapters today as this one is pretty short :P So please vote and comment, share it with friends :D Thanks ;)
