9 days. Danny hasn’t spoken to me in 9 days. It’s the second Monday where we aren’t talking, and it’s killing me. I want to phone him, but Glen has insisted it’s better for me to wait. I know he got drunk that Saturday, Glen got the drunk call, and I haven’t heard anything since. Although, he is apparently a mess. Even twitter is staying silent. I let out a sigh.
“Stop thinking of Danny.” Susan commented.
“Fuck you.”
“Phone him then.”
“You know I can’t do that.”
“Well, I have the perfect solution. We can get your mind off Danny, have a fun time ourselves. Let’s go out tonight.” She suggested. I wanted to say no, but being on my own all the time is leaving me open to memories. And they are rarely happy ones.
“Sure.” I smiled, she nearly fell from her chair.
“Really?”
“Don’t seem so surprised.” I laughed. “I need to leave the house anyway.”
“Great, dress sexy.” She told me with a wink, walking off. I was heading home now anyway. But sexy? I don’t think so… Not with these scars. ‘Sexy how?’ I texted.
‘Partay time’ She responded.
‘Who’s?’
‘Mine… Wear what you want…’ Susan has guessed about my feelings towards the scars. I smiled, I feel bad, when Danny was here I pushed her away. And now, I’m the desperate friend. Oh well.
I knocked on her door early.
“Sexy!” She shouted as I walked in.
“Heya! Thanks.” I smiled. “Looking good yourself.” I wore bleached skinny jeans and my favourite jumper, best to be comfortable right.
“People should be getting here soon, but I have someone I want you to meet.” I managed to keep the smile on my face. “Oi! Jay, get in here.” In walked, a pretty attractive guy.
“Hey.” He said, shaking my hand.
“Urm, hi.” Awkward.
“This is Jay, a football lad.” Susan introduced. “This is Amy, keep an eye on her, she is trouble.” That made us laugh. He was sweet, the awkwardness seemed to vanish as he sat beside me.
“So, how have you kept your sanity spending all your time with that one?” He asked as Susan shouted something out.
“It’s been hard.” I smiled. “Who said I was sane anyway?”
“The mad ones are more fun.” He replied with a wink, my stomach did a little flip. I haven’t felt this way since...
“Yeah, we try.” I giggled.
“Want a drink?” He asked as the music started playing. I nodded, he took my hand in his and pulled me to the drinks. Susan gave me a thumbs up as I walked past. The bitch planned this. I grabbed what I assume is diet coke, and poured in some vodka. “Ooh, looking for fun tonight?” He teased.
“Hey, there is nothing wrong with letting loose a little.” And truth is I couldn’t fully get Danny out of my mind.
I may have drunk more than I planned. I was dancing with Jay, our hands all over each other. Before I knew it we were kissing, it felt good.
“Amy, will you go out with me?” He asked. And I said yes. Why did I do that? Because of Danny. I thought that. And. Yeah. Best admit it while I’m drunk. I love Danny, or I did. Or thought I did. But I have Jay now, Danny left, without saying anything. And he’s my best friend, no awkward feelings are allowed. We kissed again. I already had his number, I stumbled over to Susan to tell her the good news.
“We are dating!” I exclaimed happily.
“Well done.” She laughed. “I think you need to get home now though.”
“I’m fine.”
“No. You are drunk. Come on.” She took me outside. “Who can get you?” She knew the answer, no one.
I took another swig from the bottle. I can’t feel like this. No way. I need to fix her, not fall for her. Damn it. But, I don’t. Obviously. I’m her big brother, of course I get irritated when she talks about her crushes. It’s completely natural. Yep. Explained right there. Maybe, I should phone her. I left her alone after all. Fuck this. Glen told me not to drink, I always lose track of time.
“I’m picking Amy up, she’s drunk. Stay here.” Glen called. She’s drunk too hey, look at that. We are practically twins.
Not Glen. Not Glen. Jay found his way out to me, he had barely drunk and said he would stay with me. Which turned into a heated make out session. I heard someone clear their throat, looking up to see Glen.
“Hey Glenny, it’s my boyfriend.” I slurred.
“Nice to meet you.” Jay said, taking Glen’s hand.
“Same. Now, Amy, get in the car. We need to get you back.”
“To my house?” I asked hopefully.
“No, ours.”
“NO! I am not staying near him, not now.” Glen just sighed.
“Fine, I’ll crash at yours. Let’s go.” I smiled, kissed Jay and gave Glen a happy hug.
“Love you.” I laughed at Jay, getting into the car. But did I really?
“I hope Danny doesn’t find out.” Glen muttered. What’s that mean? Who cares, I’m tired. I fell asleep soon after.
