I was better in history, because I love it. But, I was probably best avoided. And I still left as soon as the bell went. Susan and I were stood outside, in the rain.

“Where are they?” I complained.

“Hey, they are being nice.” Susan pointed out.

“Don’t defend them.” Shut up, school put me in a bad mood. And I honestly feel really bad about it.

“Well, maybe you should just go home then. If you are going to be in a bad mood.” She sighed, apparently she’s dealt with enough of my shit today.

“Fuck you, I will.” I turned and started walking off.

“Amy. Get your stubborn ass over here.” She moaned. I did, mostly because the shit storm from Danny wouldn’t be worth it. They pulled up next to us as I got back to Susan.

“Sorry, we let Danny drive.” Mark said as the door opened. “Out.” He ordered Danny, who looked upset about this.

“It wasn’t my fault.” He argued.

“Danny, it was completely your fault. Get in the back of the car before you kill us all.” Mark insisted, looking incredibly serious. Danny pouted but did as he was told, there was a small crowd of interested people around us now. “You guys too, I want to get out of here today.” Mark added with a forced laugh, I clambered in next to Danny and Susan sat on my other side. Mark drove off, ignoring the guys who had gathered around us. Which means that they had a crappy day too.

“How was your day?” Danny asked. I just looked at him, I’m fairly certain he’ll get what I’m saying. He must have done, because he pulled me into a one-armed hug and kissed the top of my head. “It’ll get easier.” He sighed. Susan just looked perplexed, she doesn’t really get this relationship. No matter how I explain it, but that doesn’t matter really. She doesn’t need to understand how it works, it just does.

“How was your day?”

“We may have a little disagreement with the label.” Danny told me quietly. I saw Mark’s hands tighten on the wheel, shit, not good then. They would tell me later on I guess.

“Still want to head to McDonald’s? I think a drive-thru sounds good right about now.” I suggested, taking the attention away from Danny and the guy’s issue.

“Perfect.” Mark sighed. “I need food. So much fucking food. And alcohol. Even more alcohol.” I noticed Danny wince, they hadn’t been drinking as much recently. Danny was trying to become a responsible adult, not that that would ever be possible. And no one wants a mature Danny. I know he desperately wants a drink. He knows it too.

“Last time I checked McDonald’s doesn’t sell alcohol. Apparently the pub down the street from me and Shawn is nice there, you should check it out later.”

“Best idea I’ve heard all week.” Mark replied, a smile on his face.

“Well, that’s decided then. McDonald’s for lunch, head back to mine and later tonight you guys can go down to the pub.” Danny was looking pained. “You too Danno.”

“No, I don’t want a drink.”

“Bullshit. Have a drink, you want one and I think you need one.” He just sighed, I’m taking that as a win.

“What do people want?” Glen asked, we all told him. “I’m gunna order inside, it’s easier and quicker, plus there is a massive queue for the drive-thru.” He had a point. Mark parked the car and Glen jumped out.

“I’ll give him a hand. I think he needs it.” With that I ran off after him, joining him in the queue.

“Thank God. I couldn’t carry it on my own.” He laughed.

“I worked that out, thought I’d give you a hand. You’re supposed to be the wise one.”

“Only when compared to the other two.” He chuckled, making me smile.

“Point taken.” And a very good point indeed. “Are we making Danny pay?”

“Not today. He’s had a rough day, not great. Mark is taking it out on him, when it’s really not his fault. Not completely anyway. I think I can afford to buy us all food.”

“What happened?” I asked quietly.

“I think its best we talk about it at your place. And probably if Danny explains. Before he gets drunk, if that’s possible.” I nodded, whatever it was I’m sure they are exaggerating. It can’t be that bad. Surely.

“Can I help?” The person behind the counter asked, we stepped forward and Glen ordered all the food. And there was a lot. After they finally had it all ready, we struggled out to the car with all the food.

“I vote we eat it here.” I suggested, way to hungry to wait till we got to mine. Everyone else agreed, we handed the food out and started eating. Nothing beats a McDonald’s. Absolutely nothing.
