“Remember the phone call from last night?” I asked between sobs.
“Yeah, you seemed a little upset after that.” Glen answered, looking concerned.
“My Ma isn’t well. Okay, that’s what’s wrong. Apparently I should fly over, but I can’t leave Amy. I can’t take her either. She has exams and this social. I’m sure I’d be back, but god I feel like shit. I need to be there for my ma. I have to. That’s what I was talking about, she walked off and I after convincing myself to tell the truth she wasn’t even there. I was telling her everything, and she wasn’t there and I couldn’t say it again. She told me that it didn’t matter, it was only a conversation.”
“Dan, come on this isn’t her fault. She would want to be there with you. No matter what.” Mark sighed, and he was right. She is already ready to finish school, she would be more than willing to be there with me.
“I was just upset. You know with my mum being ill, Amy managed to make me smile anyway and I felt guilty. After Dad, well, yeah, I just want to be there.” They both nodded. “I should find Amy.” I grabbed my phone and called her number. I heard her phone going off, it was under her seat. How it got there I don’t know.
“Shit.” Glen muttered. She is wandering around town without a phone and as much as she pretends to know her way around I know she doesn’t know this place that well.
“Fucking hell.” I dropped my head into my hands, could this day get any worse? I mean seriously. “How the hell will we find her?”
“Maybe she went back to the flat.” Glen suggested.
“We were gunna buy her dress for the social today.” I sighed. “Let’s drive back and see if we can find her.”
I am completely lost. And I don’t have my phone. Yeah, maybe leaving the car wasn’t my smartest decision to date. Usually I’d make my way to the hospital to get Shawn, but he has taken Gus and Henry to the airport. So, no Shawn. Can’t even contact the boys. Fuck.
“Damn it! She isn’t here!” I shouted after checking every room. Where the hell is she? I need to find her. Like now. I shouldn’t have taken it out on her, none of it was her fault at all. I feel sick with worry. I just want to hold her close, say I’m sorry and explain it all to her properly.
“We’ll find her mate.” Mark promised. “How about one of us stays here, the other two go out and look for her.”
