“How are we getting back to the house?” Dan asked, pulling the suitcases along behind him.

“Glen said he would come pick us up, he should be around here somewhere.” I replied, trying to spot the car.

“I can see it, just up ahead.” Dan smiled, the perks of being a lanky fucker I guess.

“I hate tall people.” I muttered.

“That hurts.” Dan held his heart, pretending to be hurt by what I said, so I just stuck my tongue out at him. We can go from behaving like children to being mature so quickly, it’s crazy sometimes. Glen got out of the car and pulled us both into a hug.

“We missed you guys, how’s your Ma then Dan?”

“She’s fine, almost completely recovered. She’s invited herself round once she’s better.” Dan told him, putting the cases in the boot.

“Look man, we have something to tell you. I don’t know whether you’ll be upset, angry, happy or excited. Just don’t do anything stupid.” Glen began, glancing over at me.

“Sure, go ahead.” We all got in the car, Mark was in the front, I hadn’t even noticed.

“Ah bald eagle! You’re here!” I exclaimed, doing my best to hug him.

“Couldn’t stay away darling.” He chuckled.

“All very touching, now what is it you wanted to say Glen?” Dan questioned.

“Well, we have an interview. Not really an interview, we are going back to Alan Carr.”

“And? What’s so special about that?” Dan interrupted.

“If you let him finish you arsehole you’ll find out.” Mark pointed out.

“It’s just, well, that, it’s. Amyiscomingonwithus.” Glen stuttered.

“I’m sorry? You’re gunna have to repeat that.”

“Amy is coming.” Mark stated simply, rolling his eyes at Glen who was now completely focused on the road. Dan just stared, no sign of emotion, or movement for that matter. Still as a statue.

“Dan?” I put my hand on his arm carefully, trying not to sound too worried about him.

“Um. Yeah. Sorry. That’s really cool.” He tried to sound excited bless him, but it didn’t work. The smile on his face was forced and fake, and his voice was flat. Mark looked at me in the mirror, silently asking a question – ‘what’s up with him?’ I just shook my head, I couldn’t talk about it, especially not right now. I hope that after today maybe Dan will be a little more himself, those dreams are scaring him, the press is making him angry and I’m sure his Ma being ill is stressing him out. All of this came at one time and now he is struggling a little, but we’ll get through it. We always do.
