I couldn’t get back to sleep. It’s a Saturday, so there is no reason to actually do anything. So I lay there for hours, playing on my phone. At 7 I decided it’s acceptable to get up, I forced myself out of bed, threw on an old hoodie and some sweatpants. I wold have worn shorts, but the boys are ere and as much as I love them, I don’t want them to see my scars. I stumbled over to the sofa, and collapsed on to it, pulling the blanket over me and having the TV on in the background. I was watching a rerun of CSI when Danny walked in. Topless. And shit. He is hot. I mean, wow. I quickly closed my eyes, not wanting him to know I was awake. I heard him get a drink and then softly pad over to the couch. He tucked me in and brushed the hair from my face.
“Sweet dreams darling.” He whispered before walking off. What the actual fuck is going on. I need to stop thinking of him naked, he’s my best friend. That is all. And that’s all we will ever be.
I must have fallen asleep because when I next opened my eyes Danny was sat on the sofa with my legs on top of him. Mark and Glen had pulled in some chairs.
“Mornin sleepyhead.” Danny smiled when he saw me awake.
“Hi guys.”
“Shawn says to be ready for a meal out tonight, his treat. That’s all I know.” He told me.
“Why were you sleeping in here?” Mark asked.
“I couldn’t sleep last night, so I came in to watch TV.”
“You were asleep when I came in.” Danny said.
“Yeah, I think I drifted off during CSI or something. I don’t really know.” I replied, not wanting him to know I was awake when he walked in. “And your nights?”
“Like a baby.” Danny laughed, but it didn’t reach his eyes. I know he’s been having nightmares, I can hear from my bedroom. Danny always manages to get a room to himself, I think the nightmares are why but I don’t know if everyone knows. I might ask him later.
“And todays plan?” Glen asked us all.
“I’m not moving.” I sang playfully, making the boys chuckle.
“I think I can do that.” Danny agreed.
“Movie marathon?” Mark suggested.
“Nick Cage movie marathon. No arguments. My house.” I ordered. They all shrugged, who doesn’t love Nick Cage the man is pure movie magic. Danny convinced Glen to get it all set up, he even came through with drinks and some crisps. “Thanks Glenny.” He smiled fondly, we all got along so well. The boys are ‘looking after’ me for the weekend, Shawn had a course or something. Not that we particularly care, we have fun and it means there are more beds.
We started with Ghost Rider and Ghost Rider 2, which are just awesome films. I then managed to convince the boys to watch City of Angels. And I cried, a lot. Danny wanted to, they all found it sad. I know this because Glen came through with cups of tea and hot chocolate.
