A/N - So this one is pretty long, but the second chapter as promised ;) The story is reall getting going now, so please vote and comment :P Love to hear what ya think :D
I was better now, two weeks too late. But I could get up and everything. Pretty much completely healed – physically, if you don’t count the scars. But mentally… not so much. I was a wreck. An emotional wreck. But I think it’s allowed; given the circumstances. I was trying to be strong. I heard a commotion out in the corridor, Shawn rushed in seconds later.
“Get in the wheelchair.” He ordered, smiling like an idiot.
“Why?” I asked.
“That’s a surprise.” He laughed, helping me into the chair. I don’t know why I couldn’t walk, but I couldn’t be bothered to argue with him. As he pushed me out into the corridor I heard I voice I couldn’t forget. An angel for sure. Danny O’Donoghue. I looked up at Shawn, shocked doesn’t describe how I feel. “I couldn’t just let you miss them.” He replied to the question I had been thinking. This was beyond crazy. I listened to them play, beautifully I might add. They had brought some other kids too, I don’t know any of them, and I’m assuming they are from another ward. But, I have only just started leaving my room. I started crying at some point, I don’t know if it was because I am happy or sad. Both I think. As they finished their last song, they started saying thank you to us and taking pictures, signing things for all the people who had managed to leave their rooms to see them. I softly touched Shawn’s hand. He understood, turning me around and wheeling me back to my room. He helped me clamber back into the bed, ran a few tests and left without a word. It felt like if I spoke, it wouldn’t be real. Just another messed up dream.
I had never seen so much sadness in someone’s eyes before. It was heart breaking. I may not have seen a picture of her before, but I just knew that was the girl we were here for. Here because of. I hated hospitals, I always have, but playing here brought a certain happiness to their faces. Even Amy’s, at least I think that’s what her name is, but at the same time she looked lost and broken. And a part of me wanted so much to fix her. But how? I don’t even know her. We started signing things and taking pictures, when I next looked up she was gone. I frowned at the place she had been sat. Why wouldn’t she stay? I knew a bit about her, about her story. Her family had been murdered, but she was left alive, but not untouched. For a while she had been fighting for her life, she is struggling even now. She discovered her Mum had surprise tickets for a show of ours, it as her last gift, but Amy became ill again and couldn’t go. That’s when Shawn contacted my manager, begging us to send a letter or a video. But we agreed to do one better, we would show up and give her a show. She had no one left, and just thinking about how lonely she must feel makes me want to cry.
“Where’s Amy?” Glen asked. So I was right about the name then.
“I’m not sure, what if we find that Shawn dude? He could take us to her.” I suggested, the boys nodded and we made our way to the desk.
“Can I help?” The lady asked, she was blushing slightly.
“We’re looking for Shawn and a patient; Amy.” I didn’t miss the sadness in her eyes when I told her who we were looking for.
