Narrator's POV

"Well, don't you look happy?"

Y/N shot her best friend a bored expression and continued to stuff her things in her locker. She's not even gonna bother to reply to that.

Dinah went to lean against the locker next to the Y/E/C-eyed girl's and gave her shoulder a little punch. "It's just one girl. There is plenty of fish in the sea."

The Y/E/C-eyed girl paused in her tracks and turned to roll her eyes at her. "You really have a great way to make someone feel better, you know that?"

Her best friend just shook her head and flung her arm around Y/N, pulling them both away from the Y/E/C-eyed girl's locker and slamming it shut in the process. "I'm sure you can find someone better than her. And I mean, you haven't even gotten to know her yet. Maybe she sucks or maybe--" she stopped her pep talk at the person approaching them. "Speaking of the devil."

"Hey..." Lisa said as she stopped in front of the two Juniors.

Y/N raised her eyebrows slightly at her. "Hi."

Dinah pulled the Y/E/C-eyed girl even closer to her side and bored holes into the brunette in front of them with how hard she was glaring at her.

Lisa didn't pay much attention to her though. She looked at Y/N apologetically as she bit her lip. "I... I'm sorry."

That just made Y/N look at her confused. "What are you even apologizing for?" Okay, sure, she's turned her down before she even said something, and it was in a pretty cold way too, but it's not really something she should be apologizing for.

"I just... uhm..."

Y/N shook her head. "You don't like me, I get it. It's fine. We're just gonna move on from that." She then nudged Dinah for them to walk past the girl but Lisa took a step to the side too, continuing to block them.

"It's not that I don't like you, I just--" Her eyes then widened at what she's just said. Rip. She cleared her throat as this blush crept on her cheeks way too quickly. "No, I mean, I don't like you. It's... I... never mind," she managed to stutter out before running out of there.

And in such a hurry, Lisa didn't even care how many people she's crashed into, including her younger sister.

Y/N looked over at Dinah and furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. "What the hell just happened?"

"That was what we call a Freudian slip," the Polynesian answered.

The Y/E/C-eyed girl didn't expect her to actually give her an answer to that, and even with some psychological term. "A what?"

Dinah shrugged. "Ya know, when you accidentally make a slip up while talking, it's most likely coming from some unconscious thoughts you have that are deep deep hidden inside. She likes you, dude."

Just when Y/N wanted to express what kinda bullshit that was, a Lauren sheepishly appeared in front of them, making her immediately shut up. "Hey," she smiled at the younger girl.

"Hi," Lauren greeted back shyly.

Dinah nudged her best friend in her sides again. The Y/E/C-eyed girl just swat her elbow away as she shot her a side-glare. "So... what's up?"

The raven-haired girl rocked on the heels of her shoes as she stared down on the floor. "I-uh, I just want to say thanks, again."

"It's no problem, really," Y/N said with another small smile.

Lauren just kinda stayed there, staring at her. After a few more moments, she seemed to realize that and quickly cleared her throat. "I'll just go away again. S-see you around." And just like her sister, she speed-walked away too.
