Narrator's POV

"Lauren, wait!" Y/N called out as the raven-haired girl just continued to run away from her. "Lauren Cimorelli."

It was now after Cimorelli's performance of Acid Rain. Lauren stormed off the stage the moment the music faded away and the Y/E/C-eyed girl already ran after her as fast as she could. But nope. She's starting to feel convinced that this girl ran tracks when she was younger or something because she just never seemed to be able to catch up to her.

Lauren sighed and finally pulled their chase to a stop. "What?"

Y/N quickly took the chance and grabbed her by her arm, you know, just in case she changes her mind and starts running away again. "I need to talk to you."

"Well, I don't wanna talk to you," Lauren huffed out stubbornly. She tried to walk away again but Y/N's grip on her prevented her from doing so. "Let go of me."

"You can't run away every time you're scared to hear what I have to say."

This was one of the things that annoyed her the most about the raven-haired girl. Every time she's scared to hear her response, she'd just take off and run the fuck out of there. First it was her confession saying that she likes her years ago, then the breakup, then the saying goodbye too. And then talking about recently, she'll either lock herself somewhere or just stomp away from the scene. And now this. She just never bothers to listen to what she has to say before running away.

Lauren turned to glare at her. There were still tears brimming in her eyes and they definitely still looked red due to crying on stage. "I can and I'm doing it right now, so let me go."

She roughly shrugged Y/N's hold on her arm and was ready to walk away again but this time, the older girl flung her arms around her, hugging her from behind. "Can you let me finish my damn sentences for once? You didn't give me the chance to say back it 6 years ago, but I love you."

Lauren carefully turned around in her arms to face her again. She hesitatingly locked eyes with her and noticed that she's being actually serious about it right now. "What about Lisa then?"

"Sure, Lisa was my first ever serious crush, but you are the first person I've ever fallen in love with. And I get it if you don't believe me because hell, I was dating your sister just months ago, but that experience only made me realize one thing. It's that the person I want is you, Lauren, it's always been you. Whether it was 6 years ago, or now. And it'll continue to be you in the future too." Y/N gulped a little and shifted her gaze to the space between them on the floor before continuing. "When I saw you again at Dinah's party, I was so fucking happy because it really felt like fate has pushed us together once again and was giving me a second chance to make it right. I know I still fucked it up the second time around, but that's because I was a scared idiot."

The raven-haired girl tilted her chin up to make her look at her again before wrapping her arms around her neck. That gave Y/N the courage to continue what she needs to say. "I was stupid to let you go twice already, but I'm not stupid enough to let it happen for the third time," she said in a small voice. "And even if you still decide to leave my ass behind again, I'll just wait for you for another 6 years. I don't care how long it takes for you to accept me again, but I'm willing to wait forever if that's how long you need to be ready."

Lauren stared at her for another moment before a smile broke through her lips and she had to let out a small chuckle. "That was so cheesy."

"I know," the Y/E/C-eyed girl said, biting her lip. "But you like cheese."

They just stayed like that. Neither of them made a move to let go of the other nor to speak up again. It was probably just 5 seconds but it felt way longer than that. Y/N slowly raised her eyebrows at her. "So... what's it gonna be?"
