Narrator's POV

So just like that, Lauren's been teaching Y/N how to play the piano for a couple of weeks now. They didn't necessarily hang out outside of their piano sessions, but once a week sitting together for an hour or two is... something.

Most of the time, they do talk in between the teaching and learning though, mostly they're just the most random topics one can think about, but yeah. Somehow that still managed to get Lauren to fall for the Y/E/C-eyed girl at a rapid pace. It's pretty scary, to be honest.

And also, something she found out. Outside of their weekly session on the Fridays, sometimes the raven-haired girl would catch Y/N playing alone in the assembly hall too on other days. She'd just hid behind the door and watch her practice. Sounds kinda creepy, but this crush was just making her do stuff that she normally wouldn't do.

Today was one of those days that Y/N would be in the auditorium again and practice alone. Lauren carefully peeked into the hall but instead of behind the piano, she found the Y/E/C-eyed girl sitting by the drums.

"I didn't know you were also interested in drums?" Lauren accidentally asked out loud.

Y/N held the cymbal still again to quiet it down before looking up at the sound of Lauren's voice. "Hi. I didn't know you were here."

The raven-haired girl sheepishly rubbed the back of her neck as she walked towards her. "I just happened to pass by here and I heard someone playing," she lied with a blush.

"Ah," the Y/E/C-eyed girl said, turning to look at the drums in front of her again. "I just thought they looked cool, so I wanted to give it a try. It's way harder than I expected though."

"Actual drums are hard, but there are electronic drum pads and MIDI keyboards."

Y/N tilted her head to one side. "A what and a what?"

Lauren looked around in the auditorium to see if they had either of the two instruments lying somewhere around, but to no surprise, their school didn't have them. Shaking her head, she pulled out her phone and showed a picture of both instruments to the Y/E/C-eyed girl.

"So like buttons and a keyboard with the exact same buttons?" Y/N asked confused.

The raven-haired girl shook her head with a chuckle. "Basically, if you hit one of these buttons, it'll let out a drum sound. Or even whatever sound you wanna program into it if you have one of those fancier ones. But it really just works the same as electric drums, just easier to play with."

"That really sounds a lot easier than this, yeah," Y/N said as she hit on one of the drums with the drumstick.

Lauren bit her lip and kinda shifted around on her feet. "I have one of those keyboards at home. I can teach you how to play that too if you want," she offered shyly.

That made the pair of Y/E/C-colored eyes lit up in excitement. "If that's not too much of a bother, I'm 100% down for it."

"Cool."

Both of them just kinda stared at each other expectantly after that. Did she mean like doing that right now or another day? Neither knew the answer to that. They're just simply waiting for the other to make a move or something. Finally, Y/N cleared her throat. "Are we going right now?"

Lauren shook herself out of her trance before clearing her throat. "Uh, yeah. Yes, we'll go now."

And since the Y/E/C-eyed girl's been leaving school pretty late because of staying here to practice the piano lately, she's decided to take the car with her now on. After Lauren gave her her address, they drove off to her house.
