(That is the cheesy smile Luke did btw AND MAY I SAY...HOW ADORABLE)

LACEY'S POV:

"How do you...?" I asked, holding the ball Luke threw me.

"You try to make it into the hoop over there," he said and turned around to point to what looked like a pole with a ring on.

(A/N IF YOU LIKED THEN YOU SHOULD'VE PUT A RING ON IT WO OH OH OO!!!!
Sorry, shall we continue? I think yes)

"Is there a specific way? You need to be detailed!" I huffed, dropping the ball and watching as it bounced away.

"You just..." He trailed off, grabbed this so called "basketball," and threw it towards the hoop we were supposed to make it in.

It's like he was a pro at this; he made it in.

"How am I supposed to do that?!" I exclaimed, waving my hands in the air.

"Here," he said and handed me the basketball.

"Try to get it into that hoop."

I hesitated before grabbing the ball, I bounced it once on the ground before slightly bending my knees and aimed upwards towards the tall hoop.

It hit the side of the ring and bounced back towards me.

I quickly ducked it, letting out a girlish scream.

"They make you look like such bad asses with leather suits, while you can't even score a ball into a hoop!" Luke exclaimed, chuckling a bit before shaking his head slightly, looking down to the ground as his smile faded into a frown.

"I'll try to play, I guess," I sighed.

He already taught me the basic rules; how to dribble and how to hold the ball when trying to score from both close and far away.

"I'll go easy on you," Luke said, shooting me the cheesiest smile ever.

Smiles like that were rare; the ones that showed teeth and filled your eyes with happiness were hardly ever seen.

"Okay," I breathed out, preparing myself as he threw me the ball.

I froze as he started jogging towards me, almost tripping over his overly long legs.

He stopped when he was a couple feet away and waved his hands, motioning for me to move.

I continuously bounced the ball as I made my way towards the basketball hoop.

I suddenly felt the warmth of his body as he tried to take the ball from me.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't like how he was so close to me.

I purposely - not too hard - elbowed his side as I turned and jumped, throwing the ball over Luke's head.

He winced but jumped, hands over his head.

Luke's hand came in contact with the basketball with a smack and he firmly grasped it and soon began running to the other side of the court, towards the hoop he was supposed to him it in.

(A/N if you understood where "firmly grasped it" is from I love everything about you)

He bounced the ball repeatedly as I chased after him. I tried to block any movements he could possibly make, which didn't really help but showed I was "participating."

"You suck at this, you know?" Luke said, catching his breath as he suddenly jumped up and threw the ball into the hoop.

I sighed, "I know."

"Don't be so hard on yourself," he said, pouting out his bottom lip.

"Shut up," I breathed out, biting back the smile that was trying to force its way onto my face.

I shivered at the cold. I was wearing the pajamas that we were given, which was what we were supposed to wear when we went to sleep.

The material of the shorts and short-sleeved shirt did nothing to shield me from the cold.

Luke apparently noticed and pulled off the gray long-sleeved shirt he wore - revealing a black short-sleeved shirt under the shirt he was just wearing - and handed it to me.

I kindly declined it, saying I was okay.

"I see the goosebumps on your skin smart one."

I scoffed but took the shirt, pulling it over my head and almost laughed at how ridiculously long it fit me.

"Thanks," I mumbled, covering my mouth to hide the smile that plastered onto my face the moment I put on his shirt.

To my surprise, Luke suddenly took off running, trying to make a score.

"You cheater!" I yelled, pulling up the sleeves of his shirt as I ran towards him.

He paused just as he was about to make a shot, and me being my clumsy self, crashed right into him.

We fell with a soft thud onto the grass of his backyard.

Was it strange to say that being this close to a person I hardly knew made my heart flutter?

My face was only inches away from Luke's and his eyes looked bluer than ever, like crystal clear water.

"S-sorry," I managed to choke out.

Luke nodded, his nose coming in contact with my chin.

"What the-" I suddenly heard a familiar voice say.
