LUKE'S POV:

"Luke?" I heard Ellie whisper. I sleepily rubbed at my eyes and looked at the clock; it was exactly midnight.

"Yeah?" I said quietly, watching as she peeked her head through a crack in the door.

"I-I'm going to sound like such a fucking wussy but...I had a nightmare," she laughed lightly.

"Do you wanna talk about it?" I asked, sitting up and pulled at the sleeves of my shirt.

"Please?"

I nodded and scooted over, patting my bed lightly. I smiled when I saw she was carrying a small stuffed bear, the corner of its ear ripped off and it was missing an eye, and it was just extremely beaten up.

I turned on my bedside lamp as she sat down. "What happened in the dream?" I asked softly.

I frowned when I saw she had red eyes, tears stains on her cheek, and she was shaking slightly.

She took in a deep breath before speaking. "I was in this-this room, I don't know where exactly, but I was..." She trailed off. "I was cutting myself. Vertically. And I was crying, but I didn't know why. I kept cutting and cutting until everything became blurry. Then L-Lee came in - appeared really, but he had these wings and he smiled at me. But right as Lee touched me to hug me he screamed out in pain. I watched as my arms were slowly repaired from the cuts I had made. But they were all brought upon him," she cried, shoulders shaking lightly.

"It was only a dream," I told her as I kissed her forehead.

"It-It felt so real," she sobbed quietly, tears soaking my shirt.

"But it wasn't," I whispered, kissing her head as she completely broke down in my arms once again.

"It - it h...hurt to see him like that Luke," she sniffled.

"Don't cry, you're with me now," I whispered, hugging her tighter.

"I miss him s-so much," she sobbed, clinging onto my shirt like her life depended on it.

"Ellie," I breathed out. She has to know what I did. She lifted her head and looked up at me with a pained expression.

I lifted the sleeves of my sweater for her to see, she sighed sadly before tracing the cuts.

"It's okay," she said quietly.

"No it's not," I remarked. "I broke my pro-"

She smiled sadly before tapping her wrist.

No.

"No Ellie - god dammit," I cursed, rubbing my temples.

And then I felt my my cloud. Lacey's thinking.

"You're thinking a lot," I said. Ellie looked up at me in confusion but I simply put a finger up to my lips, motioning for her to stay quiet.

I am, she said. She was sitting on a bed, rocking back and forth.

"Don't fill your beautiful mind with ugly thoughts," I whispered.

I left the journal over there and I don't know what to do. Without it I'll probably go insane, I need to get it but...

"Do you have anything to protect yourself from him?" I asked.

Yes.

"Go. Remember to use it okay? Only if you need to. I need to go check on Ashton, he hasn't been out of his room since yesterday," Ashton has been quite antisocial since the whole Lacey thing. He doesn't eat a lot and if he talks he whispers.

Please take care of him, she said as she stood up.

"I promise I will. I'll talk to you later, I love you."

I love you more, she said quietly.

"What the hell was that?" Ellie asked as I stood up from my bed.

"I told you," I shrugged. "I can hear her."

Ellie sighed before hesitantly asking, "C-can I sleep here?"

I nodded, "I just need to go check on Ashton."

"At one in the morning?" She raised an eyebrow at me.

"Doesn't hurt to look," I shrugged before walking out of my room, quietly shutting the door and made my way downstairs.

After a few seconds of feeling my way towards Ashton's room I finally made it to his door and knocked softly.

No response.

I knocked again and leaned on the door, only to practically fall into his room.

I furrowed my eyebrows when I didn't see him lying down on his bed. I quietly made my way over to the other side of the bed and tripped on something.

I stumbled forward but quickly regained my balance before turning on the light besides his bed.

I let out a gasp when my eyes finally adjusted to the light.

There lay Ashton, blade in hand. But something other than the blood caught my eye.

His Mark was gone.
