LACEY'S POV:
"Let me just do one more thing. I'll be back in about five to ten minutes," I exclaimed, dropping my duffel bag and backpack onto the ground and running back inside my house.
I need to do this fast.
I ran out the front door of my house, running as fast as my legs could carry me.
I ran down the street, getting a warning from a guard but I couldn't care less about anything right now.
I made up my mind.
By the time I got to the place I wanted to be at I was out of breath and partially suffocating.
I rushed towards the too often seen elevator, almost tripping over my own feet.
Why have I never thought of this?
I pushed the button for the top floor. I need to get to James' office.
I need to do this, just this, then Ashton and I can leave.
Once I heard the ding, I set off towards the end of the hall just as the doors opened.
I checked if anyone was around before entering his office and rushed towards the back of his desk.
I pulled out the small pull-out compartment in his desk made for a keyboard, but instead pulled out a small object with tons of buttons.
I had seen this when I came in to search for Luke.
This was what controlled the power, it allowed me to turn on the power outside the walls.
I frantically searched the small object for a button that would hopefully turn the power on.
After about a minute or so I noticed a small yellow button at the very bottom of the object titled: Outside Power.
I pushed it and smiled as the lights flickered slightly in the office.
I did it.
I put the small machine back in its compartment and casually walked out of his office.
My luck ran out just as I shut the door to his office, I was greeted by Katy...who just came out of my office.
"Y-you killed him," she whispered.
I ignored her, walking towards the elevator.
"If you're leaving t-take me with you or I-I'll report you!" She stuttered, pursing her lips slightly.
"I don't know what you're talking about," I smiled innocently, rolling my eyes as I stepped inside the elevator.
"I know you know who Luke is," she said, lowering her voice and taking a step closer to me so we were face to face.
"Who's Luke?"
"Don't fuck around with me," she spat.
"Don't talk to me like that," I remarked, shoving her slightly.
"Don't touch me," she hissed.
I smiled, trying to not get mad.
I reached out to push the button that would take me back down when Katy swatted my hand away.
"Excuse you," I muttered, glaring at her.
"Take me with you," she replied, a serious tone edging her voice.
"I am not leaving. I'm excused for the day because I'm sick," I said, fake coughing in her face. "So piss off."
Katy glared at me, hatred very obvious in those colorful eyes of hers.
