LUKE'S POV:

"Giraffes scare me," I laugh.

"Why?" Lacey asks, raising an eyebrow at me as we look over at the animal with the extremely long neck.

"It just has a really long neck," I say gesturing towards it.

"You remind me of a giraffe," Lacey says, biting back a smile.

"Me?!" I exclaim.

"You have really lanky legs," she points out.

"Well, yeah," I say slowly, shrugging my shoulders.

"This wasn't what I was bringing you to see," she says, grabbing ahold of my hand and walking towards the zoo map, telling us where everything was.

"Zebras, camels, flamingos, seals...ah," she says.

"What?" I ask, trying to catch a glimpse of the map, she quickly covers it with her hands.

"It's a surprise, here let me put the handkerchief back on you," Lacey stands on one of the benches that was planted besides the zoo map and quickly covers my eyes with a white handkerchief.

"M-make sure I don't fall," I say, grabbing her hand as she jumped off of the bench.

She lightly grabbed my forearm and put a hand behind my back and began walking.

"Lacey if you're taking me to see a goddamn dolphin or something I will force you to marry me," I say, grabbing the hand she had behind my back and squeezing it slightly.

"I do not have a problem with that," Lacey shrugged.

I smile lightly as she leads me to see god knows what.

We come to a halt and she suddenly gasps.
"What?!" I exclaim excitedly, squeezing her hand. I frown slightly as she untangled our fingers, leaving my hand out in the cold and not in the warm palm of her small hand.

"Luke!" She exclaims, "they look so cool!"

"Can I take off the handkerchief now?!"

"Yeah, yeah," she says, seeming more entertained over what's in front of her.

I quickly pull off the handkerchief, only to leave it on my head as I see what she brought me to see.

One of my life goals is complete.

"Oh my god!" I yell, pressing my face against the glass to examine the flightless birds.

"Lacey," I breathe out.

Lacey looks over at me, a big smile plastered onto her soft, delicate lips.

"You're the most amazing human being I have ever and will ever meet," I say, walking towards her and lifting her into the air.

She's surprisingly very light...

"You're so light," I whisper as I spin slowly.

She squirms out of my grip, looking to the ground as if anxious.

"Is everything okay?" I ask softly, taking a step towards her.

"Y-yeah, I'm fine. Look!" She says, snapping my attention towards the glass in which the penguins were behind.

"Oh my-A BABY PENGUIN," I scream at the top of my lungs.

I watch as a baby penguin waddles over towards the glass, Lacey cooing from behind me.

My heart stops as it lightly pecks on the glass.

"We should name it," Lacey sighs, bringing a hand up to the glass that's separating me from the thing I love most in the world.

I think for a moment, "Paul the penguin."

"Yes!" Lacey exclaims, her eyes suddenly widen and she walks away from me, to something behind me.

"Where are y-" a gasp escapes my lips as I see Lacey holding up a stuffed penguin, a cart of them just behind her.

I already have a stuffed penguin at home, but it doesn't hurt to have another.

I walk over to the cart and pick up one of the stuffed animals.

I hug it close to my chest, trying to contain my excitement.

I attempt to make the face the penguin is making, "look! We're making the same face!"

"Wow," I heard Lacey whisper. "Did you feel that?"

"Feel wh-" I suddenly know what she was talking about as I feel the ground beneath me shake.

"What the hell..." I trail off, feeling unsure if the ground really did just shake.

I quickly grab at a wall behind me and steady myself, feeling dizzy.

I hear a low rumble and everything slowly flashes before my eyes.

"Lacey there's a person beh-" something hard hits the back of my head and everything around me slowly turns into a black abyss....

Okay so idk when I'm going to update, I'm really sick I feel like I'm dying guys help me

But once chapter 49 and 50 are up I won't update for a full week just to have you guys think about what is going to happen so hehe

So my concerts on Wednesday and Thursday went okay so I'm happy to say that

Except for the fact that during one of my performances this high schooler next to me GRABBED my clarinet - during the middle of a song - and adjusted it saying I was "out of tune"

*bish whet face*

Fun fact: There is a small Christmas tree inside my room, I'm in love

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this short chapter! I will update again when I feel a bit better :)
