LACEY'S POV:

I sighed, sitting back on the couch and set down the journal on my lap.

Do people actually believe that they're not worthy of living?

The words: But the day I die, will be the day I am alive still rings in my mind.

"What's that?" Luke suddenly asked, sitting down next to me on the couch of the living room.

"A journal," I shrugged, pulling at the sleeve of my shirt.

"Your journal?" Luke asked, raising an eyebrow.

I shook my head.

I handed it to him without saying a word, when he reached for it our fingers brushed slightly and I blushed fiercely.

He smiled at me before opening the journal and turning to where I put a small paper, telling him where I left off.

He started off with a smile, then his smile faded into a thin line, he came to the end and was set upon a saddening frown.

"Where'd you get this?" He asked, handing me back the journal.

"I found it," I shrugged lightly.

Luke raised an eyebrow at me.

"On a scavenge."

He nodded, scooting closer to me.

"You know that you can sleep in my bed, right? I don't mind. I can take the couch," Luke shrugged.

"I'm fine here on the couch," I smiled.

"I'm so so sorry about Katy," he said, lowering his voice to a mere whisper. "I didn't want to share a bed...with her, for obvious reasons."

I nodded. Katy wanted to sleep with Luke, I said that he shouldn't have to do something he's not comfortable with. It ended with a big argument and Katy throwing a plate at me, which I dodged.

The girl has anger issues, I swear.

"I'm the one that should be apologizing, I did bring her."

"She forced you to," he said softly, bringing his hand up to my cheek and caressing my cheekbone lightly.

His touch made me smile; it was soft, yet filled with desire.

His pale, gorgeous eyes examined my face, and soon fell down to my lips.

"Can I...?" He asked, eyes now filled with anxiousness.

I nodded, leaning in and connecting our lips.

And god, did it feel amazing.

His lips felt softer than silk against mine, so smooth. I smiled against the sweet kiss, but parted it when I felt a stinging sensation.

His face too twisted in pain, most likely feeling it also.

"Will it ever go away?" I mumbled to myself, rubbing my arm slightly. When my hand came in contact with the skin on my arm I yelped in pain, feeling my hand burn.

I let out shaky breathes as I looked at how the skin on my palm turned red.

I hissed in pain as Luke touched me, feeling another burning sensation where he touched me.

"W-what's happening to me?" I whispered shakily, looking at how my arm was covered in red blotches and the pentagon shown so bright my eyes took a little to focus on the light.

"Lacey-" Luke gasped, reaching out to grab my arm.

"D-don't touch me!" I yelled, eyes widening at how red my arms now were.

Why was I affected this badly and not Luke?

Everything went black.
