LACEY'S POV:
I stepped into James' office, petrified at first, but a sigh of relief escaped my lips as I saw Luke was no where in sight after a good ten minutes of searching James' office. That's when I saw files on his desk, the top read: Lacey, number thirty-four.
Why was he looking at my files?
Curiosity took over me and I inched closer to his desk, grabbing the file and flipping it open.
A stack of papers fell out, but once specific paper caught my eye.
It read:
Lacey Irwin Arrocena
Birth mother: Anne Marie Irwin
Siblings: Ashton Irwin, Harry Irwin, Lauren Irwin
Birthdate: July 29, 2096
Times tortured: 23
Ashton's my brother?
I stuffed the files in my satchel, not caring if they got crumpled or folded.
I still need to make sure if Luke is okay and safe.
I scurried out of his office, running into Katy, why was she still here?
"Is James in his office?" Katy asked me, trying to move around me and go into his office.
"He just left actually," I muttered before making my way towards the elevators.
"Wait! Why were you in his office?" I heard Katy yell just as the doors to the elevators closed shut and the elevator began to move down.
I fought back a sob, what if he did have Luke?
Luke could get hurt because of me.
He's a stranger to me, but someone I now know and care about.
He helped me when I needed help, so I'll help him in his times of need.
I practically stumbled out of the elevator and began running home, heels clicking on the cement ground.
I received weird glares but I couldn't care less right now, I just needed to know he was safe.
I quickly ran inside my house, locking the door - which we weren't allowed to do - and ran to my backyard and into the forest.
I faintly remembered the way to his house, so I could just go over there.
As I passed trees I noticed they were marked with X's.
I shook it off and continued running.
I passed by the tree I saw him at last night.
If James hurt him - over killed him what am I to do? Get revenge?
I was out of breathe by the time I came up to the familiar brick steps, leading towards the beautiful cabin Luke and his friend lived in.
I walked towards it, legs shaking, breathe unsteady and sweat prickling my back.
I knocked three times, pretty loudly.
No answer.
I knocked again, this time practically punching the door.
The door swung open, and I was met by the pale blue eye I've been longing to see.
"Oh, my god! You're okay!" I exclaimed, and pulled him in for a tight hug.
"What happened?" Luke asked, running my back soothingly.
"J-James said he h-had you," I breathed out.
