Hayes P.O.V.

"What are you all dressed up for?" asked my brother Nash, standing in my doorway.

"I have a date with Kaylan."

"That girl you walk to class everyday?" he laughed.

"Yeah," I felt my cheeks heat up.

"You finally grew the balls to ask her out, bro," Nash clapped his hand on my shoulder, "I'm proud of you."

I pushed Nash's hand off my shoulder and looked at myself in mirror once more. I was wearing a red a gray plaid shirt with khaki pants and a gray snapback. "I need to go. I said I'd pick her at seven and it's 6:45."

"Have fun little bro," said Nash. I walked downstairs and told my mom I was ready. We hopped into the car and drove to Kaylan's house. Once there I rang her doorbell. Her mother answered and called for Kaylan to come down. She walked from her room and closed the door. She was wearing a red dress that was tight around her torso and was loose at the waist and nude flats. She looked beautiful.

"Hey Kaylan," I said. "You ready?"

She nodded her head and said goodbye to her mother. We got back into my mom's car and she drove us to the fair.

"What time should I pick you guys up?" she asked.

"I'll text you." I shut the door and watched as she drove off.

"So what do you wanna do first?" I asked.

She smiled and grabbed my hand and we ran off in one direction. She picked the teacups ride, like the one they have at Disney World. We sat in a cup and the ride began. She grabbed hold of the big wheel and began spinning us around. She was enjoying this ride more than I was. Her shrieks of laughter filled the air and I couldn't help but smile. Once the ride was over we went on a few more. I bought a large sprite and some fries that she decided to share.

The last ride we went on was the Ferris wheel.

"This was so much fun, Hayes," she said.

"I had a really great time, too," I replied.

She scooted closer to me. I wrapped my arm around her waist and she laid her head on my shoulder. The fair's fireworks went off and in that moment everything was perfect.
