Chapter: 1

That's when I heard a loud bang, very close next to my head.

'Miss Cooper!!' I heard my English teacher almost scream, when she stood in front of me.

As I tilted up my head, I saw that all the other students where looking at me as I looked around the classroom.

At this point I noticed that I had fallen asleep in the middle of the class and just woke up because of an angry teacher, who slammed on my table.

It's only the second month of this school year and I already have fallen asleep three times now, great start!

'I'm so sorry Mrs Russ, it won't happen again, I promise,' I said with squeezed eyes, because of the bright sunlight that was shining through the windows.

'This is the third time in 4 lessons Jasmine. You should really get some more sleep. Your last grade wasn't the best either, so I would recommend you to pay attention during my lessons!' Mrs Russ said on a slightly annoyed tone.

As she made her way back to the front of the classroom, I heard a comment from behind me.

'Little Jasmine couldn't keep her eyes open again?' Zach said to tease me. He sat two seats behind me.

I gave him a dead stare and turned my head back to the digi-board.

Well, now you know who Zach is. Our relationship is kinda complicated. We can get along pretty well, but I don't really consider him as a friend. He is just a nice guy.

The bell rang and I packed all my stuff, handed in my homework that actually needed to be handed in last week, and told Mrs Russ once again that I would get more sleep.

I left the classroom while I threw my bag over my shoulder.

I walked over to Simon who was waiting for me by my locker, as usual.

Simon is my best friend and without him, I wouldn't survive high school.

'Hey Jas, survived another English class?'

'Barely, I fell asleep again,' I answered and a yawn escaped my mouth.

'Again? You should really get some more sleep, I'm worried about you.'

I forgot to tell you that Simon is really caring, as you can tell.

'I know. I'll be alright,' I answered as I opened my locker to grab my math books.

A couple of books fell out of my bag as I opened it.

I let out an annoyed sigh.

At that moment, Zach came towards me and picked up my books.

'Here,' he said with a smile, as he handed me my books.

'Thank you,' I responded a little surprised and Zach walked off.

'He is so into you,' Simon said, focusing on the 'so', while leaning against the locker next to mine.

'Shut up,' I answered while rolling my eyes.

'He's not into me, alright. We're just friends, I think,' I added, questioning the last part I said.

I closed my locker with a bang.

I turned around after I zipped my bag and saw Zach standing with his 'squad'.

It existed out of Zach, Jonah, Jack and Corbyn. They are the popular group.

Jonah is the athlete and almost every girl has a crush on him. He is the quarterback, that's probably the reason why he's so popular.

Then we have Jack, the skater. He wears more baggy clothes and always walks around with Vans on his feet.

Last but not least, we have Corbyn. Corbyn is the smart guy but he is definitely not a nerd. Corbyn tutors some girls, but I bet the girls don't really need it. I get it though, it's an easy way to get in contact with a cute boy.

They are all seniors, except for Zach, cause he's in the same year as me.

The bell rang.

Time for math...

We were allowed to make our homework in the lesson already, so that's what I did.

As soon as I finished all the exercises, the bell rang.

Simon and I packed our stuff, went to our lockers and made our way to Simon's car.

The ride to Simon's house is not that long.

When we arrived, we went inside and settled on the couch.

We usually just chill after school and sometimes make some homework. With emphasis on sometimes.

'In for a cup of tea?' Simon asked from the kitchen.

'Always,' I responded as I turned on the TV.

'What do you wanna watch?' I asked him, while scrolling through Netflix.

'Literally anything, you can choose,' he said as he entered the living room, holding two cups of tea and a box of chocolate chip cookies in his hand.

'I told you that my dad has been going out with this woman very often lately, right?' Simon said out of nowhere.

'Yeah, what about it?' I asked while turning my head in his direction, so I was abled to face him.

'Well, I kinda overheard my dad making a call the other day, and caught the words moving in and together, and I don't know if it means what I think that it means,' he said, almost nervously.

'They might really like each other, so in that case, it isn't a bad thing, right?' I said and Simon still looked at me, not amused.

'I mean, after your mom, this might really make him happy again, and that's what we want in the end, right? Even though, it will take some time to progress the new changes,' I said to Simon, calmly.

Simon his mom died 3 years ago in a car accident and Simon's dad still struggles a lot with this loss. Simon also struggles a lot with it, but we kinda found a way to get his mind off of it.

'You're right, I need to give it a chance. And I'm not even sure if it's true, so we'll see,' Simon responded.

'You're always welcome at my house!' I said enthusiastically to swing the mood around.

Simon laughed a little and gave me a hug.

We chose a series to watch and the time passed by very quickly.

I had dinner at Simon's place and went home after that.

When I got home, I greeted my parents and went upstairs to get myself ready for bed.

But before I could actually sleep, I had to make my homework because I didn't do it at Simon's. Mrs Russ is gonna hate me if I fall asleep in her lessons again, but I just get a lack of sleep because of her homework!

When I eventually finished my homework, I texted Simon goodnight and drifted off to sleep.

I woke up by the tweeting sound of the birds outside, even before my alarm went off.

It was nice, not having to rush to be on time for school.

I could feel that it was going to be a great day. Maybe because the weekend was starting soon. Yeah, that's probably it.

Did I have any plans for the weekend? Nope, because I'm a boring bitch.
