Chapter: 5

Corbyn settled in the car behind the wheel and I sat down in the passengers seat.

He turned on some music and started to sing along.

I was doubting about singing along too. I mean, I literally cannot sing at all, so it wouldn't be the best decision.

And I don't want to embarrass myself in front of Corbyn.

I'm still asking myself why he wants to hang out with a junior. Maybe Corbyn isn't as bad as the other seniors.

The song ended and a new song came on. I really liked his music, because we were currently listening to his Spotify playlist.

I couldn't hold myself back anymore and started to sing along. It was my favorite song, I just had to.

Corbyn started to sing a bit louder, and damn, he sounds so good.

'You can sing really well,' I started.

Giving some compliments can never go wrong.

'I didn't expect that to be honest,' I added.

He looked over at me, what caused me to panic.

'LOOK AT THE ROAD YOU FOOL,' I yelled totally panicking.

'CALM DOWN,' he screamed and laughed at me after that.

'And thanks, that's really sweet.' He smiled, but not at me because I told him to look at the road loud and clearly.

'I used to do a lot with music, but since I came to this school, it kinda vanished,' he said.

'You should definitely pick up the thread again, I bet you're really good at it,' I responded.

We kept on talking about music till we arrived at Corbyn his house.

Our conversations seem to become smoother and smoother and a lot more genuine.

As soon as we made our way inside, Zach stood in the kitchen already.

'Hey guys,' he said.

'Hey Zach,' I responded and Corbyn did too.

There was a nice vibe in the room.

I felt much more comfortable than the last time I was here.

We started making the base for the pizzas.

I didn't expect that we would make the dough by ourselves as well, but apparently we did.

They told me that Zach and Corbyn their parents were really good friends and that Zach basically lives at Corbyn's place.

That explained why Zach was here today, what I seriously didn't mind. It was actually really fun.

We kinda came to the moment where flour flew through the whole kitchen.

I felt so sorry for Corbyn's parents, because they weren't home so couldn't stop us from making this huge mess.

We were making total fools of ourselves. It literally felt like I was hanging with some of my best friends, weird right? I used to not like them at all.

I stood with a hand full of flour in front of Zach, who had a glass full of water in his hand and Corbyn had a spoon with tomato sauce.

'Don't you dare throw that at me,' I said while pointing my hand filled with flour to Zach and then to Corbyn.

I saw Zach almost making the movement to throw the glass of water over me, when I heard my phone rang.

'What a timing,' I said laughing.

'I need to take this one, I'll be right back.'

That's when I left the room with my phone and saw that Simon was calling me.

Phone call || Simon🥴

Jasmine: Heyy, what's up?

Simon: Hey, well, there's actually something I want to talk to you about. Are you at home?

Jasmine: Nope, I'm at Corbyn's for the math tutoring lesson.

We weren't doing any math anymore, but I just know that Simon doesn't like the 'Zach squad', so I thought that it would be better to not directly tell him about me hanging out with them.

Simon: Then I'll just say it over the phone.

Jasmine: Go on.

Simon: Last time, I told you that I overheard my dad talking to that woman right?

Jasmine: Yeah, I remember.

Simon: Well.. my dad just came to me and told me that she is moving in here soon. And don't get me wrong, I tried to listen to you and tried to be happy for him, but he is literally replacing my mom and I just... I am not ready for this yet..

I heard him starting to sob a bit on the other side of the line.

Jasmine: You can handle this Simon. It probably will be hard in the beginning but she can be a new mother figure to you as well! It might really help to give it a place, but I'll always be here for you!

Simon: Thanks Jasmine. Wish you were here right now.

Jasmine: Do you want me to stay over later?

Simon: I would really appreciate that.

Jasmine: Alright, I'll text you when I'm done, alright?'

I didn't get an answer but I heard Simon talking about something with his dad. I waited until Simon spoke up again.

Simon: You are not gonna believe this. My dad just told me that the woman is taking her child with her.

Jasmine: Are you serious?!

Simon: Yeah, she has 4 kids. Three of them will stay at their father's but one of them will move in here.

Jasmine: That doesn't have to be bad Simon. Maybe you can become friends with her and we can all chill togeth-

Simon: It's a boy Jasmine. I only heard that he is a senior and is going to live with his mom because he wasn't the easiest back there.

Jasmine: Alright, that doesn't sound good, but we just need to wait and see.

Simon: Yeah..

Jasmine: I'll text you later alright? Gotta go finish these math exercises.

I said being fakely excited. It doesn't feel right to lie about this..

Simon: Talk to ya later! Bye!

Jasmine: Byee Simon!

Phone call with Simon🥴 has ended.

I made my way back to the kitchen and was surprised by what I saw...
