~Cinnamon Braid

Makes for 12 servings

Ingredients:

Bread

1 cup of warm milk

1 package of yeast

1/2 cup of sugar

1/3 cup of melted butter

2 eggs

4 cups of flour

1/2 teaspoon of salt

Filling

1/3 cup of softened butter

1 cup of brown sugar

3 tablespoons of cinnamon

Icing

4 oz of softened cream cheese

1/2 stick of melted butter

1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Preparation

1. Combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a measuring cup and let it sit for five minutes so the yeast will activate.

2. Then place the flour in a mixing bowl with a bread-kneading attachment and start the mixer on slow. Add the eggs and butter to the flour as it stirs.

3. While they are still incorporating, slowly add the yeast mixture into the flour and let it mix until it has fully combined.

4. Place the dough on a floured surface and knead it by hand for 10 minutes. Then place the dough in a greased bowl, covered it with plastic wrap, and let it rise for 45 minutes.

5. Place the butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl and mix until it is completely mixed.

6. Roll the dough into an 18 x 21 inch rectangle and spread the filling on the dough and spread it evenly.

7. Starting with the long side, roll up the dough to created a hot-dog style log. Split the log in half, (by the long side) and twist one half of the dough over the other with the filling layer exposed. Twist and join the dough into a complete circle. Place a tea towel over it an let it rise for another 45 minutes

8. Preheat your oven for 400 degrees and bake for 20 minutes until the bread becomes a light brown.

9. While the braid is cooling, whisk the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla together until it is fully combined.

10. Once it has cooled, pour the icing over the braid.
