Makes for 24 Cookies

Ingredients:

1 cup of flour

1/2 teaspoon of salt

1/3 cup of shortening

3 to 4 tablespoons of  ice water

1/2 stick of melted butter

1/3 cup of cane sugar

Preparation:

1. Preheat the oven for 425 degrees. Align a cookie sheet with parchment paper.

2. Whisk the flour and salt together in a medium bowl.

3. Use a pastry cutter to combine the shortening in with the flour. Keep going until there are no specs of dry flour left.

4. Slowly add the water in with the cookie mixture until it can hold it's shape together just fine.

5. Place the dough on a floured surface and roll it out until it becomes a rectangle shape. Brush half of the melted butter on the dough and sprinkle half of the sugar on it and spread it out evenly. Flip the dough and repeat the process.

6. Tightly roll the bottom of the dough towards the middle and stop at the center. Then roll the top half to meet with the center as well. Put the log of dough in the fridge and let it chill for 15 minutes.

7. Slice each cookie from the log about 1/2 inch-3/4 inch thick. Place them on the cookie sheet about 1 inch away from each other and bake them for 15 minutes.
