Makes for 8 Breadsticks
Ingredients:
Bread
1 package of yeast
1 1/2 tablespoons of sugar
1 1/4 cup of warm water
2 tablespoons of melted butter
1 teaspoon of salt
3 1/4 cups of flour
1/4 cup of warm water
2 tablespoons of baking soda
1 stick of melted butter
1 cup of sugar
2 tablespoons of cinnamon
Sweet Filling
2 1/2 cups of powdered sugar
2 tablespoons of milk
1/2 teaspoon of maple extract
Ingredients:
1. Combine the warm water, sugar, butter, and yeast in a measuring cup and let it sit for five minutes so the yeast will activate.
2. Then place the flour and salt in a mixing bowl with a bread-kneading attachment and start the mixer on slow.
3. Slowly add the yeast mixture into the flour and let it mix until it has fully combined.
4. Place the dough on a floured surface and knead it by hand for 10 minutes. Then place the dough in a greased bowl, covered it with plastic wrap, and let it rise for 45 minutes
5. Cut the bread into 10 breadsticks.
6. Mix the baking soda and water together. Dip the dough sticks into the mixture.
7. Place the dough sticks in a baking sheet aligned with parchment paper. Bake the pretzel sticks at 425 degrees for 7 to 10 minutes.
8. Mix the sugar and cinnamon together. Dip the stick into the melted butter, then dunk it into the cinnamon sugar mixture.
9. Mix the frosting mixture together and place it in a piping bag.
10. Use a straw to pierce the breadsticks in the middle and pipe the frosting in the cavity of the breadsticks.
